VW Golf mk8 reveal

Those fog lights are straight out of the Renaultsport design book.  Looks a bit Hyundai i30N to me too.

This is rather nice IMO.

Was making some enquires about a Golf Mk8 purchase and was emailed this today from VW customer services

Thank you for your email enquiring about the electric folding mirrors on the Volkswagen Golf 8.

I have been informed that electric folding mirrors are not currently available on the Volkswagen Golf 8. I am sorry if this is disappointing to you but this is a decision that was made by our product and design team. It may be possible this will become available in the future but we do not currently have an estimated date for this.

I hope this information proves useful.

Post lockdown may consider a final late Mk7.5 Golf. Love a proper dash with knobs and switches!

Golf mk8 deliveries have been halted, according to www.motor1.com due to software issues being experienced.

Was this the same as ID3 problems?

Bought by the hundreds of thousands by VW Finance and Lease Companies, or Leased by Lease Companies to rent out.

It will be 3-6 months until we find out how popular Ex Demo / Management cars are with buyers, & 3 years until we find out how interested people are in Used ones out of manufacturers warranty.

EDIT / PS

A 5 year manufacturers warranty and no quibbles over Screen Failures, Hybrid / Plug in technology fails, Software Updates might give 'Buyers more faith'.

If VW have no faith to back their new tech why should the buying public?

I have seen lots about the changes to the electronics for the driver and passengers but is there much change or improvements to the mechanicals, engineering in the Golf 8 ?

Read a bit more about this (during the dull F1), and presumably this new tech will be in the Octy in a year or so, and I am stunned by the lack of improvement in acceleration, emissions and MPG.

  1. Over 8s to 62 mph
  2. Hardly managing 120 gm/km
  3. Only 50 mpg  or so for the petrols

Hardly an incentive to change a mark 7 model car to a mark 8.  Better to run the mark 7 longer and wait for the right ID3  or proper PHEV it would seem.
