Octy 1 RS Altenatives for the bottom bumper grilles

Featured Replies

dont know about the part number but the Milotec vRS front bumper grilles i have (which are identical to Joels above) are deffinitely welded... no glue or self tapping screws.

Mine are welded too - and powder coated.

But they only took five minutes to fit :)

Just like mine then...

Nothing I can add here that hasn't been said already. Had some, sold them on when I upgraded my intercooler. Yes the're powder coated and the supporting frame around the mesh is welded to the mesh and a very good fit. Does this mean Stuart you have sourced a vRS bumper shell to replace the style standard ?on the 4 x 4?

Do you want to be able to remove them once they're on?

If not why not just use the bare mesh overlapping the aperture on the rear and glue in place. Should look neat from from the front once mounted.

Ideally removable as some tracks insist on the towing eye being in before you go on track, having said that Ive never done it yet

Have thought of glueing it on but I guess there are mounting holes to fill in the bumper, I just hoped the Milotec ones had mesh that could be swapped as some still seem to think, would be an easy way to get over it & I could easily fit them after the bumpers been sprayed to save scratching the new paint (sods law says I will ) & it will be a bugger to match

On Golfs I've seen it done my cutting out the centres of the orignal frames leaving just the edge and the mesh mounted to that but not sure how neat that would be.

I suspect the grilles you have been told have detachable mesh are the large diamond pattern ones like this: 435_20_640.jpg

Thanks M8

That might well be the answer, I will dig further

The old Rad Grills still here if you want it

Yes I do, hang on to it for a while longer please, my car will (fingers crossed) be back on the road in two to three weeks, pistons are finally here, so everything can go back together fairly quickly now. :P
