The last wash

In my younger days (!) Ford used to stand for Fix Or Repair Daily.

I have to admit a few months ago i was thinking off selling the fabia for a petrol, i took out the lexus IS200 sport and it was so dam slow i was dissapointed. i then took out a fester ST an loved the sound it made as the revs built up and its handling. i giggled as the ford dealer held onto the door as we took a corner.

ide say the fester is deffo faster around the twistys, but in a straight line the furb will have it off. and thats what put me off in the end. i like the feel of when the turbo kicks in. i found myself waiting for something to happen as the revs built up in the ST.

good choice of car imo.

^ So, the ST would be perfect with a turbo kit then? :D

now that would be rapid! the new Fiesta RS:thumbup:

If Ford actually ever put another RS into production! Same with the Cosworth models. There was supposed to be a Focus Mk1 version with 4WD and around 300bhp. But that was shelved, and they're now not even sure if there'll be a version like that in the current shape.

A crying shame.

Hello again

Just got back from a nice little drive, finding it hard to leave the ST in the garage to be honest.

I was getting a bit annoyed during the week, because it seemed to rain everytime I stepped out of the house, but today is gorgeous and I got to feel just how grippy the fiesta is.

After owning the car for a bit now it's amazing how different it is compared to the Vrs, considering they are a similar package. My conclusion is:

If you cover a lot of miles and want a car that is good for cruising and relaxing to drive, but quick, buy the Vrs.

If (like me) you want something that is very involving to drive I would say the ST wins. It sounds like a racing car, the steering is fantastic and you have to work quite hard at the wheel to make the most of it, but when you get it right it feels great.

In terms of straight line speed, it feels very different without the torque but really flies in 2nd and 3rd gear. I think 21.8seconds to 100 is pretty similar to a Vrs Autocar test figs).

according to this weeks auto express, they are still testing the focur RS, and developing it, (there were new spy shots) it has the engine and 4WD system from the volvo, tweeked to aroun 300 BHP..... the spokesman said it was still under development, but there were no dates as to whether it will or wont be released, so they are deffo still working on it, but it hasn't been given a go ahead yet.....
