Tick Over Scout mk3

Featured Replies

Hi all, have tried search no luck.

When engine warm, tick over is just a tad under 1000,normal or not?

My Roomster, 1.9 tdi ticked over at 850.

Just under as in 900 rpm, 950 rpm or 990 rpm?

My scout ticks over at 1000 if its cold or trying to do a regen. It seemed to be doing this a lot.last week when i was only doing short journeys so i drove for 30mins with the revs up to do a propper regen cycle and its back to 800 of so now

I'd say, 990 rpm .

Sounds high, was the DPF performing a regeneration?

It's been like it since i got the car a month ago.

Have been away in it, and it gets a good run every week.

I think you'd better get it looked at.

How old, how many miles, under warranty?

For no reason, not one i can think of, not been far since Tuesday.

Cars now happily ticking over at 750rpm.

If its doing a regen the auto start stop disables.  So has the engine ever auto stopped at lights?

When I had my Oct 3 scout the tickover went to 1k at regen and lower (around 900rpm) when normal.

To be honest if it was doing a regen when i got home i turned the engine off, it'll start again next time you drive it when required - personally i wouldnt drive it or leave it ticking over just because it was doing a regen.

So, it sounds like its been doing a regen then.

The only thing i know about the previous owner was, he was a Doctor. 🧐
