Emission fault - missing when idle

Fabia sport 1.2 (06)failed mot on emissions, added BG44 engine cleaner & worked through on motorway yet still failed. Levels are: fast idle CO 0.31, (was 0.35) Lambda 0.994 (was 0.997) natural idle 0.69 (was 0.50).  Car now misses and shakes with idle tick over at 1000 yet smooth to drive. Any ideas what this could be?

Have a look at the spark plugs as a first port of call. A recent thread in the Mk1 Fabia forum discussed a similar situation and was resolved by just replacing the plugs:
