Buying new Karoq - what equipment?

Whilst it's a different system I was thinking the complete opposite tonight.

The auto-dimming LED headlights on my Mercedes-Benz E-Class are pretty quick, but they only react once they see the other vehicles lights, by which time I've already blinded them.

I was amazed at how responsive and accurately the system on the Scout performed. I have to admit that in the 6 weeks, I didn't do a great deal of night-driving, but it only failed me once and that was when I came through a long line of closely-spaced, clean, reflective traffic cones - and the lights failed to dip. I think it was simply confused.

As far as I'm concerned if I have rear parking sensors then a camera is a waste of money. Have it on my other car, it's never used. One brilliant feature I have on Octavia is rear traffic alert - if you could just buy that on it's own then it's worth it. But Edition model already comes with it.  Incredibly useful if reversing and you can't see the road  i.e. reverse out of a supermarket parking bay with a van parked either side of you. A camera only sees what's behind you, not what's about to be behind you.

Auto dimming headlights don't work when it's raining as rain screws up the camera vision. Have it on the Octavia but not worth the money IMO.

Edition already well enough equipped to added nothing. Was almost going to add self-parking as VAG's system works great. Yes I know people will say they know how to park, so do I, but few of us can say we've never kerbed alloy wheels.

It's a benefit in the summer too, the heated panel inside the glass also reflects the sun, helping to keep the interior cool during the hotter months.

While thats certainly true for my superb which has the film type element, t'missus's Karoq has the 'fine wiggly element' type of heated screen which I'm not sure has the same effect? It doesn't have that blue-purple oily look the Superb has.

Really, the Karoq is using the old technology heating elements?

The Kodiaq and Superb use the more advanced clear film. Given the similarities between the Karoq and Kodiaq, and given the Karoq arrived later I'd assumed wiggly heating elements were resigned to history.

Don't forget to add the spare wheel back in then...

Spare is factory installed in Style package, no matter the canton upgrade.

Regarding factory seats, i just read some statements here on forum how uncomfortable they are.

Anyone here has these issues?

I just got a crazy idea to rent a Karoq for one day just to test them out driving around all day.

An excellent idea, I'd say.

(I took three test drives.  :) )

With the 1.0 litre engine you are probably not going to do much towing but if you intend towing a small trailer it is worth getting the tow bar preparation done at the factory as it makes fitting a tow bar much less expensive.

No towing, no trailer, no nothing. Just city driving to work/home/shopping :)

Il pass renting for testing, i don't know how it works in UK but here in Croatia they take a deposit on your credit card.

It takes the bank a month to release the funds back...totally not worth it...

I can confirm that my Karoq has the wiggly elements, and from the last two days the heated screen works a treat so no need to be the estate alarm clock at 5:45am in the morning (apart from scraping the side windows that is) so maybe the neighbours may be late for work this winter 🙂
