New vRS Challenge

Featured Replies

Hi

I’ve just picked up a new race blue vRS challenge245 hatch this weekend and absolutely love it!

I have a couple of Quick questions.
I noticed the battery does not have a top cover on it and just has the material around the sides. Should it have the top cover on aswell like my previous diesel vRS had?

Also. I can’t find the sticker under the boot floor that has the codes on with the vehicle spec etc? Should it be there?

thanks in advance.

I’m sure I read the data sticker has either moved or isn’t a thing anymore. Can’t remember which.

I've got a 245 Octy and a 245 Golf and neither have the top cover..........

That’s good to know.

Thanks for replying. 👍🏻

It was perhaps a weight saving item 🤣

The data sticker for my Octavia SE wasn't in the boot or service manual as it was in previous Skodas.  My dealer said that Skoda no longer put this sticker in the car but they did provide me with a printout of my car's spec on request.  This contains information usually found on the data sticker and what the codes mean in plain english.  Suggest you ask your dealer for this printout (I think they need either the registration number or vin number, possibly both).  They should have this already on their paperwork though.

Really keen on it as well I have a dealer offering me px on my mkiii diesel estate dsg for estate challenge.

How bad is mpg? Suspension DCC any good,  what RPMs do you have at 80mph with 7 speed DSG in Challenge?

Thanks a lot.

You will get a lot of different answers about mpg.I can only tell you what mine does, which is 30 with cold starts/local running, but on longer runs 40 is achieved easily.

I like the DCC on mine, the three settings, comfort, normal and sport do what you would expect...but I think a lot would say that if the normal setting is like not having DCC,then they could live with it.

80mph is about 2000 revs in D7,so quite a good economy potential there, and on a light throttle it will get into D7 at about 50 mph.

Awesome thanks....I am in discussion with dealer for last two months, it has all staff I want apart from Columbus, I will carry on getting them tired....and carry in dropping price...🤪

Not sure I should wait a month or two when they will be willing to shift stock quick.

The broker that supplied my car is currently showing a price of just under £25k for a new 245 dsg estate Challenge.

The car you link to does have quite a few added options but isn’t new.

Not sure where I’d want to be on price but that looks to be on the high side.

What do you reckon I should agree to £25k?

It was for £31k originally but that price was a joke....

Which broker did you use?

The problem is it's very much a run out situation on this model. The Skoda configurator still shows the Challenge model but the ability to add factory options has now gone,so probably no new factory orders at all.I think you need to do some research, with the broker above, and others, to see what is available in new cars already made and in the country...and their prices of course.

You will then be in a better position to approach the dealer with an offer. If they would take £25k for it that would seem a decent deal...but they might well be holding out for a better price on the basis that similar optioned up cars like that are no longer available.

Bear in mind new dsg 245 vrs cars were under £22k for estate and under £21k for hatch direct from dealers in the summer. I wouldn't get sucked in to paying lots more for the run out special edition, especially a used / pre reg. The challenge wasn't getting as much support from Skoda so wasn't really that much of a bargain when you started looking at what prices could be achieved after discounts.

Thats so true,  I am too old to get excited and buy in rush.

I will look on the link above thanks!

Picked up two weeks ago and very pleased with it. Replaced VRs Tdi 4 x 4 Estate. Haven’t yet decide the best view for the Digital dashboard. Came with umbrella but not located under the passenger seat. Moulding is curved and looks like it should hold it but can’t see how to open it. Disappointed that can’t permanently set the driving mode but have to set every time you set off. Got dealer to change the original black/silver Extreme as too bling for me.

Just press the button in in the middle and pull the storage open.

Which button?

It's inside the big hole. Just hold the top bit and pull. It opens from the top.
