Snapped this last night when I was going to pick up our Chinese takeaway order.

They haven't installed the chargers yet so when you arrive you'll have to just pretend it's charging your car. :giggle:

That is good because at lease people know not to bother pulling into charge.  Much handier than at the Turnberry junction on the A77 turning along to the Golf Clubhouse.  The chargers is in and lit up for a year now but the CCS charging head had never been able to be activated.  Just as well that it is not on all charger app maps as being there.

You have EV drivers like the one that drives this van.

Parks in bays for days & nights on end without doing any charging.  Nobody can take any action against them at Angus Council chargers.

The same van has been left parked at another charging hub for weeks last year occupying a charging bay.

(The Car Parking ticket machines and paying to park in the car park next to this are suspended just now because of Covid19)

It is an EV it was plugged in but charging will have ended days ago.

it gets parked without being put on charge at the Tesco Charging bay as well when it is being used and just as a handy place to park while the driver shops.

Leave a note on the windscreen or report as abandoned

At the charging hub in the bottom picture which is 100 yards from Angus Council HQ it was parked for 10 weeks last year,  then for 5 weeks.

Local ladies that sit there at picnic tables while dog walking reported to the police and told them there were ladies clothes in it.

They were not interested as in a Public Car Park and not on the highway and totally legal.

So that is as now where it is.

Another EV driver did get a parking ticket while parked and the charger had finished charging but that was an error as the car parking charges are suspended and there was no charge for charging at these chargers back them.

Now there is a cost to charge but no overstay cost of overstaying in an EV parking bay.

If somebody reports it as an abandoned vehicle next time the Earl & Countess of Forfar visit the town then action might be taken.

If the council aren't interested it's probably Thiers!!

They actually abandon / block chargers elsewhere and that is sign written ones and plain ones.

I used to send a message direct to the Councils Chief Executive Officer, the ruling council Councillors and Opposition Councillors when they blocked chargers over weekends and holiday periods, that got their attention.

Setting off on a few hundred miles with a full battery. So going to need to charge at least 3 times.

Charge Place Scotland chargers i might use in Fife or those near Edinburgh Airport are reported and showing as Out of Order so i know just to check when passing but not expect a charge.

Other CPS Edinburgh Airport ones near are showing OOO.

So there is one 6 miles away that i have never found available to use but i will go try, and there is a PodPoint 50kW 1 mile away from that if available.

Next option is a BP Pulse a couple of miles from the Airport which does not take Contactless so i have Credit on my account.

Happy enough to pay to charge to get a shift on but it is unbelievable just how much a lottery it is to get a Rapid Charge in the Newbridge / Ingliston / Ratho / Airport area if you have not got a Tesla.

I might try BP Pulse at Harthill Services West Bound to see if any better than the East Bound Services and if there is a proper charging speed on 100+ kW chargers.

Never mind range anxiety, how about charger anxiety? 😉

Luckily right on to a PodPoint and charging at 26 pence a kWh quickly.  50kW charger will work out at 33kWh charging up to 98%.  So no messing about to see if the free chargers happen to be working.  Checking while I charge Apps show they are not.   The next 2 charges today will be on CPS chargers and free.  So 450 miles might cost just under £10.    EDIT.  Done, 60 minutes added 65% to the battery. £7.44. that gives 90 miles.

Scorchio now out.

Edit PPS.  Looked round to Airport.  Only 8 22kW chargers working and occupied in the park and ride.  None of the new fast or rapid chargers enabled but all powered up.  The single old Rapid has no powere.

Is the 22 kWh chargers AC ones which the Corsa-e and family can only draw down at 7.3/7.4 kWh anyways ie only single phase ?

Yes just 6.6kW on them  unless you have the 11kW on board charger.  So the difference might be 21 miles added in 65 minutes or 33.    I was desperate to get some charging 30 mins ago and plugged into one but luckily the owner on the DC came out a leisure centre and now in10 mins I will have enough charge for tomorrow to get 110 miles to a charger.     Tea time I was at a hub with 6 x 50kW chargers but filled with bigger battery EV,s.  One Merc had been on 2 hours and was at only 80% and no driver about.  I could not get an AC charger to start and I needed some power, but there was a BMW iX3 sitting and it had only 83% charge after 90 minutes.  I asked the driver if he would be long and he was already feed up and said he was happy to let me get a charge.   I never stayed long and let someone else get on and got to where I am now.  It is getting crazy really with so many EV,s wanting on rapid chargers and not enough about.  Then what there are having so many faulty.

I think AC should be charged at around 90% of the DC charge as in many cases the charger has to change the 3 phase AC to DC and take the 10% loss in the conversion from AC to DC.

If I use AC, Zoes can take at least 22 kWh AC and some can take 43 kWh AC but that is rare in the UK I gather, but if I do I will lose 1 in 10 kWh in my onboard charger.

As long as I was not in a rush for work or urgent personal trip I hope I would give up the 50 kWh DC to someone who needed it and step down to using the 22 kWh AC, if one is there as they are not always, but being cheaper who help ease the good Samaritan loss of my quicker charger.

So many service station still only have two little sad chargers ie one with two 50 kWh leads and the other with a 50 kWh CCS and the over is a LEAF type one, not that I see many LEAF around for some reason considering how many tens of thousands of them they have sold, almost as many Zoes have been sold.

Tesla is clearly the king and if I have any regret it is whether there was any way I could have scrapped together to get a Tesla.  Do not like the no knobs in the cabin, though some my say many Tesla do come with knobs, not sue what they mean, but they are light years ahead on the charging network side.

I am at Stirling Castle View Park and Ride.  There are 58 fast chargers with 11 cars charging.  There are only 4 DC Rapid 50 kW chargers.  Only 1 is working the other 3 are out of service.  Thankfully the Mustang Mach-e is plugged into the AC on it and has been for 93 minutes.    Silly place to plug it into IMO if parking up the car for hours.   Luckily charging speed is good on this one so ready for heading home with plenty spare if the charger keeps working.   If not I have 2 good charging hubs on route between here and home.  Weather was lovely and in the teens and got to Stirling and frosty verges and roundabouts and no sign of salting.  Low winter sun.    Good for the solar panels here.

The Ford should be plugged in on one of the AC chargers.

But many people don't even carry cable with them, this is the dealer's failure to educate during delivery. Not surprising from Ford dealer TBH.

The huge number of AC chargers is great to see at park+ride.

I should mention that when the DC is Out of Order on the chargers the AC still works usually.

Again lack of knowledge or consideration from users means that they ignore using them and tie up a bay at a Working Rapid charger where getting your charging port near the charger can be an issue.

Luckily you can get parked behind these chargers and still get plugged in.

Getting a good charging speed from 50kW CPS Chargers is unusual but thankfully out of 4 free charges in the past 24 hours they were as good or better than at a PodPoint 50kW charger.   Podpoint was filling to 99% so longer on the charger.

Sounds like a nice wee day out, @roottoot. :)

Much cheapness buying food at my favourite Scotmid and just the £7.44 for the electric.
