MPG for vRS in here please

Featured Replies

ive done a search of the forums and seen that poeple are getting silly miles out of a tank of derv, one guy even cliamed 700 miles to a tank. am i the only one who only gets about 420 driving like a dead granny miles to a tank and 45mpg on the computer? car has done 8000 miles so should i expect more mpg in a couple of thousand miles time?

daily commute is 12 miles a road with cruise engaged then 4 miles town. then return.

can you all let me know realistically what everyone else is getting, and please no "one day on a good day i got 60mpg" jst normal daily driving etc etc to put me mind at rest.

cheers boys and girls

I'm getting about the same, i don't drive like ****! it's done 17,000 ish miles and i started to think i was doing something wrony, only getting 45ish.

Normally: 12 mile commute to work = 54mpg

This week: Newmarket -> Chippenham and back. ~ 8 hours of driving, mixture of M25 crawl and 75-80 cruising on the M11/M4 = indicated 58mpg.

BP Normal Diesel. 16,000 miles, just been serviced.

Last tank of fuel = From being just in the red (70miles fuel left in tank ccording to comp) to a full tank = 36quid diesel put in completely fill it. . . 398 miles later just in red again(65miles fuel in tank) Computer saying ave 49mpg. This was a combo of motorway 70-90mph, stuck in jams & around town. I recon if I had driven like a granny = 450 miles ish. My vRS has done 3000miles now.

700miles must have been full to absolutely zero left in tank and a single continous journey @ 59mph . LOL

I've got a Superb, 14,000 miles (almost the same engine) and that is doing around 40mpg just running around localy (2 to 5 mile journeys) on a long ish run it will top 52mpg

cheers for the replies, also saw in the search theres an expander button or something like that, whats this alla bout or is this a lot of bolleaux?

11,000 miles, Angel generic map. No cruise.

I drive more conservative in the vRS, but don't mind putting my foot down. I drive 40 miles to work, mainly A-Road and through several towns (30) and Edinburger city.

I got a record 59.7mpg average this morning. But usually get 49-53. The lowest has been 46 (on a friday rush to get home).

I reset the comp on each tank and the last two tanks has given 50-51 average.

I'd be pisht off getting lower than 46, especially if you're driving like an OAP :thumbdwn:

Over the 5500 miles i have done i have averaged 46.33mpg - calculated (Trip computer is actually very accurate)

Worst tank full i have had 44.44mpg (2 bikes on the roof), Best 49.58mpg

Car is a standard 04 with 28k miles

I do a 22mile b-road commute at NSL

Best single joruney i had was 57mpg on the computer.....was rather dull though

The engine will loosen up further with time - expect improvements up to 15K miles before the numbers stabilise.

I struggle to get more than 515 miles from a tankful. Summer grade diesel and warm weather both help, I find.

Less restrictive air filter should help MPG a little bit, and as bryand said, you'll never get decent MPG if the car doesn't have much chance to warm up!

40-42mpg on my 8 mile London commute. 46-50mpg outside London depending on whether I'm pushing on. Best ever 57mpg sat with the cruise set at 70mph on the A1. Not brilliant compared to the C3 HDi I used to own, but then I drive my vRS a lot harder.

with the warm weather now upon us , there should be a significant rise in consumpton figures , i've seen 70.1 average on a 156 miles journey on m/ways and b-roads and iirc i have done 600 miles to a tank once , but its usually 500-520 miles between fills , i did see 71.3 mpg on a commute to work (17 miles m/way + b-roads) but as everyone says you only see those figures if you drive like your granny , someone will now say there grannies a rally driver, doh

winter: 44 - 48 mpg

Summer - About 48 - 50 mpg

Furby 10 days old...done 950 miles @50mpg :)

Been running it in but not too carefully

This was on a mix of town, twisty A roads, dual carriageways & motorways

Average of 5000kms is 6.2l/100km or 45mpg.

PS:

And I drive pretty fast.

27MPG

Per tank...averages

Winter 46-50mpg

Summer 50-54mpg

Real figures are about 360miles to a tank not the 405 the computer says.

and i do short 2mile journeys and get about 27mpg. these figures are from november to now. and ive noticed since the weather temp has got to 8deg's i can get 36mpg instead of the 27mpg. Please also note all the driving is mostly up hill and never on the flat good old west yorkshire for you.

my PB is 714 miles ;)

This was on an extremely long motorway trip to Devon and back after the car had been remapped, average speed I would hazard a guess at 60-70 mph on the motorway.

I generally manage 500 miles approximately from a tank, sometimes 550.

Remember the on-board computer is NOT accurate - the only way to record MPG accurately is to log distance and fuel (always assuming the odometer is better in accuracy terms...).

Which is what I did.

Daily commute of about 12 miles each way, A road's and some stop start in traffic.

Trip/fuel computer reset after each fill up, and I try to use only Shell or Esso diesel.

Car is 06 Fabia VRs, with about 1300 miles on the clock. At the end of each week my average MPG is between 49 and 53mpg

My daily commute is usually just 4 trips at 4 miles each, half in standing traffic during the morning so mpg only averages 37/38mpg this time of year (winter quarter). Average speed on the trip computer is sometimes down to 18mph some weeks - it'd be quicker to cycle - but on those traffic free days its too much of a hoot to miss!

As soon as I use it on a longer run, things improve dramatically to what you'd "expect".

I have to say that the published figures for the vRS are remarkably accurate set against my experience with it so in my book full marks to Skoda for honesty - it does what it says on the tin.

Which is what I did.

Please note I wasn't referring to your posting...

Hi

With me driving a genral mixture of town and open road, keeping speeds and acceleration sensible, it is averaging around 50-52mpg. More entertaining driving drops this to average over a tankful of 45-47. My learners average 44-47mpg. I tried driving for maximum economy a few weeks ago and got a 61mpg day. It was an easy A road and rural job with little traffic.

Average over the last 5000 miles or so has been 47.4 according to the trip. I find trip and manually calculated always tie up give or take 0.1mpg.

I dont ususally overfill the tank, although I did get an extra 5L in the other day by releasing the little valve inside the filler cap repeatedly. Generally average 385-405miles before the fill up light comes on.

Chris
