Buy from one dealer, repairs at another ?

Featured Replies

Hi.... Has anyone had any experience with buying an approved used car from a Skoda dealer and then having warranty work carried out by either another branch of the same dealer or at a separate dealership altogether ?

If so, were there any issues with doing so ?

The reason I ask is that I'm considering buying approved used from a dealership a fair distance away but wary if I needed a warranty related problems fixed afterwards.

Thanks

No issues at all, I have bought all mine from different dealers.

Škoda UK pay the dealer for warranty repairs so it’s in their interest to do them.

If it is work under the factory warranty 3 years (or the 4 or 5 years version, bought before registering car) then any franchised dealer can do it.

If it is a specific offer whilst buying an older used car, then probably only applies to work done at place offering it.

Ah good point!

I assumed he meant the 3 / 4 / 5 year manufacturers warranty :blush

I'm not particularly familiar with the different warranties so I guess I was meaning if I buy a car and a problem occurred within a few weeks I'd normally take it back to garage where I got it from but if that's 100 miles away I was wondering if I could take it to a different dealer, but I guess that's only going to be ok if it's a manufacturers warranty item.

Yes

how old is the car?

This is the correct answer, be it either the original Skoda warranty or the Approved used car scheme warranty.

It's not a specific car at the moment, just that I'm having to look further afield because there seems to be a lack of what I want in Yorkshire.  For some reason there seem to be many more cars further north, south and west of here.  Could be 2016, 2017, or 2018.

I bought my s3 sportline at local Skoda dealer who ,,kindly,, forgot to remove transportation locks from front suspension resulting in both front wheels being buckled which they then replaced after i complained, all 4 tyres were pumped to 47psi and there were chemical stains on front and rear lights which i had to polish of myself. If this was car that i bought from showroom i would just gave it back but because i factory ordered it and waited for 9 weeks i kept it but said to them that they will never see it for any service work unless it will be warranty related. I had the car for 18 months and all work has been carried out by Audi/VW dealership at very reasonable prices. They confirmed that as long as genuine skoda parts are being used for servicing i.e- filters, oils, brake discs&pads that there wont be any issue. However if something goes wrong and gets covered by warranty it will have to go to Skoda dealer. Since then i had glove box compartment replaced under warranty and car is booked for replacing gear knob as it's peeling off

Purchase both my Mk3 Superbs from far afield. Any warranty work (factory) was undertaken by my local dealer. I don't buy from them because they are too expensive .
