Wheels for Superb Elegance

Recommended Posts

I need to get a new set of wheels for my 2011 Superb Elegance (came off second best to a large pot hole!). Current wheels are the

standard 7.5Jx18 ET46.

I have seen some secondhand wheels from an Octavia VRS which are 7.5Jx18 but ET is 51 - will they fit given they have a slight difference in the offset?

Guidance greatly appreciated, alternative please let me know if you have any good condition wheel that would fit.

The wheels you are looking at will sit 5mm further into the wheel arch, that is the only difference.

www.willtheyfit.com allows you to put in different offsets, wheel/tyre sizes etc to see, surprisingly enough, if they'll fit.

That repositioning has an effect on steering and tyre wear. It's not trivial to ignore it.

+1, especially as the OP has an estate.

If I was asked to name a drawback of my S2 estate I really have only one complaint.  And that is the S2 estates propensity to chew rear tyres if the geometry or the pressures are in any way off recommendations when carrying a load.  I'd be very careful with a non-OEM rear positioning unless and until someone else could prove it was OK....

I have run winter tyres on 8j x 18 ET 44 on my Superb estate for the past 3 winters. The inner rim is 4.3mm closer to the suspension strut and the outer rim is 8.3mm further out than before.  I have had no issues with abnormal tyre wear in that time. Don't wish to start any form of argument -  just giving the OP my own personal experience to assist their decision.

I doubt that an offset of ET44 is the limit. I would be happy to try anything from ET38 to ET44 on the Skoda Superb MK2. My own view is that you can go 7mm either side of some central point...so a 14mm range of offsets. Beyond that range, and when you turn the steering wheel when stationary you are dragging the front tyres along the ground sideways...hence the steering won't feel right...at least if you don't have power steering to cover up what's happening.

If you look at wheel-size.com they list offsets for the Skoda Superb MK2 ranging from ET38 to ET50.

These Alcar steel rims will all fit the Skoda Superb MK2 using offsets ranging from ET44 to ET38.
