Fog light removal on Skoda Octavia SCOUT 2019

Featured Replies

Dear all,

I am trying to gain access to my fog lights on my 2019 Scout. It is not going well.

The manual shows you clipping in the hook in the corner by the fog lights and pulling. This does not work. The manual describes this as variant 2.

Without wishing to cause further issues and damage, can anybody offer any advice on how to gain access to the top panel and pull it off (other than my brut force and ignorance).

Thanks

Max

I have the pre-facelift version but looks very similar to yours.

Easiest way to remove the 2cm x 20cm black plastic part above the foglight for me was to use the blunt handle of a teaspoon / wide flat-blade screwdriver / dinner knife under the end nearest to the number plate - i.e. on the short end of the plastic part, rather than at the corner of the foglight as shown in the diagram

This piece is held in by clips (that seem pretty robust) and will expose two Torx bolt heads.  These are all that are holding in the foglights.

Best of luck!

Thanks Andrew.

I'll have another go.  That piece looks as though it is on very securly; I might have to get a replacement piece of plastic, because the metal 'puller' just succeeded in mullering up the corner (grrr) where it tells you to pull.

I'll do a YouTube video once I've figured it out.

Many thanks

Good news folks.  Done it; but it definately took a lot more physical effort than expected.

Yes, you have the use a spoon or a large flat bladed device and get into the corner closest to the headlight (I'll get some photos onto here soon).  Another Skoda manual failure.  Use the back of the spoon until you hear the first 'click' of disengaged plastic clip.  Reverse spoon and lever further until you hear 2nd click and the panel will pop off.

FYI - it looks like these fog light plastic covers are replaceable if they get damaged and are not expensive.  Skoda-parts showing them at 17 euros a pop.  If you need to replace the parts, these are the part no:

Lighting is much improved and a set will be appearing on my husbands SE1.0 Octavia v.soon.

Thanks
