Headlight lenses

Featured Replies

Hi, everyone does anyone know where I can get brand new headlight lenses. There are micro cracks in the lenses. I've tried polishing, spraying clear coat. I just can't hide it. I already brought pair of brand new headlights with the same issue.

Already tried to. They only got full headlights

Well the headlight lamp unit is a bonded sealed unit. Thus why the dealer only has full assemblies.

You probably wont find just lenses anywhere.

Brand new in the box headlights have the same issue. Any ideas what I could do?

New lights should be crystal clear, where did you buy em from?

You can wet sand and polish as an alternative

Brand new OEM from ebay. They should be. They were manufactured ages ago they weren't as the one in the picture. Ended up returning them. They had micro cracks in the plastic

And yet there are no visible cracks (by definition a micro-crack is not visible) in mine which are at least 15 years old...

There were no visible cracks micro or otherwise nor clouding on my Octavia 1 at 16 years old and with more than 1/4 million miles, given all the stonechips on the bonnet, grille bumper etc I was amazed.

Then I finally had the money and motivation(failing eyesight)  to change to the correct LHD headlights which I bought new from Germany, I was totally shocked to see how much brighter they were, not from having the correct kick up but the level of illumination both on dipped & main beam.

I did back to back testing and the difference was, forgive the pun, night and day!

It was a combination of light scatter from invisible scratches and general non visible opaqueness of the plastic and a loss of reflectivity from the reflector from dust & again not really visible oxidisation.

When compared side by side in sunlight you could actually see that the new lenses were clearer and more light was being reflected back through them.
