Dragon TDi Tuning Box

Featured Replies

The missus is going to get me one for my birthday :D

Anybody bought one from MrHoot.com eithger directly or from them selling on ebay? What price and how was the service? Do they drop the price to ebay levels if you ask nicely?

What sort of difference to insurance does it make?

I'm not bothered about a remap though - like my warranty too much!

Any feedback would be appreciated.

I got an analog box off eBay, but I did drop them an e-mail before hand about digital and analog box prices. They will sell at the "normal" eBay selling price which is around the

fantastic....... do it!

A tuning box is just as likely to invlaidate your warranty as a re-map ;)

Check out the AmD one-click group buy for an easily turn off and on-able re-map that controls both boost & fuelling vs just fuelling from the Tuning Box

;)

seen one do 175.5 bhp and 288 lbft torque on a Pd 130 engine :D

Yes but a switchable remap is still detectable should the dealer not want to play ball.

Any problems? How long has it been/was it on for?

Had Dragon boxes on three cars and have never had a problem ...mpg goes down slightly but that is because it's so much fun to drive

Octygone - got one for sale?

Did have........ someone else has bought it  .....they just got a fabia Vrs :D

Did have........ but my son has bought it  .....he just got a fabia Vrs :D

And how did it affect his insurance?:eek::eek:

Chris

bought one off here for £150'ish not long ago... dead easy to fit and boy do you notice the difference!!!

highly recommended! :):D

re: getting 175bhp out of the vRS, what setting did you have it on? (16?) also, is that with any other modifications? just wondering :)

My pd130 Superb has one and its fantastic, and unlike the AMD one-click (which incidentaly does not produce as much power) it's totally undetectable when you unplug it, so you should have no warranty issues so long as you remove it for servicing (the One-click permenantly changes some codes in the ECU as with all re-maps).

Hasn't made any difference at all......

it's in a drawer upstairs :D

put the one click back in and press the button and it reloads the original map :D

Indeed, probably best to leave it til the car is out of warranty

Yes but the ECU registers the fact that the map has been changed (and how many times), and this can be picked up upon by a dealer if they are looking for it.

I believe it is meant to assist mechanics in problem solving if they need to re-flash the maps or something.

The dealer will be able to tell it has had a tuning box on though when/if it goes into limp mode and you need to get it into the dealers to clear all the fault codes.

Just a word of warning, but Dragon get a big  from me, produced 170 bhp on the maximum setting (digital box) on my old TDCi Zetec S.

One thing people could do to squeeze every last ounce out of one is to send it back to dragon to turn up the fuelling further (digital box only), mine went back twice and the end result was 15 more bhp than when I origonally received it ;)

Depends how knowledgeable the dealers are. I know one member on here who had an analog box which threw up some fault codes and the dealer was none the wiser - in fact I think he got a new fuel-temp sensor out of it! End of the day, there's no physical evidence, unlike the remap route.... :D

I have an analogue on mine, throws up fault codes, I cleared them before I took it to the dealer for service, and they were non the wiser. (or just didn't care!)

What if something really goes wrong - you won't know about it?

It has to wait a bit tillI put it on. Insurance went up to 2500 with Dragon box :D

Dragon digital tuning box now for sale.....it will take too long before he can use and insure it

Plus it would invalidate your warranty!
