Karoq Vs Lockdown

Featured Replies

Well we just made it. I collected my Quarzt Grey 1.0 Se from the dealers this morning. I waved at him from a distance of  at least 2m,, he threw the key at me - and that was the car handed over.

So the drive home made me smile at having to get used to torsion beam rear again. ( I'll get over it), shake my head at those who Poo-Poo the 1 litre engine - Yes, i know, i was on my own & it was empty. It will be 97% of the time..

Anyway, with 9 miles on the clock, at startup,  my notoriously light right foot got me the the 30 miles home in normal car driving time and an impressive 49.8 on the computer. The grandkids like the picnic tables, from a distance of 2 metres.  They'll probably be teenagers by the time they get to use them.

First impressions, nice on the road and the infotainment system is REALLY nice. I look forward to sitting in it on the driveway and twiddling the knobs for the next 3 months.

Stay Safe!

The 1.0 is a great little engine, I just swapped my 1.0 SE Tech DSG I had for 2yrs for a 1.6tdi SE Tech. I wanted another 1.0 but they don't make one with a DSG, so I got another 2yr PCH on the diesel as it was £90 a month cheaper than the 1.5 DSG. It has 34 miles on the clock now, sat on my drive doing nothing for the foreseeable future!😁

I have no idea how it drives as it hasn't been out of a 50mph limit yet.

I have 9 miles more than you already....   😄

Mines been sat on the drive for over a week now delivered with 10 miles on the clock now has 20 miles on the clock.

the 1.0 L isn't a bad engine but coming to it from a 1.2L Fabia I missed the torque which seemed to start at tickover and go on for ever, it pulled like a diesel. The 1.0L still doesn't pull in the same way but it has improved immeasurably as the miles have gone on and it does have a surprising turn of speed when you floor the throttle, certainly enough for me. I've noticed the 3 cylinders offer no engine braking down hills at all so it's brakes all the way if you want to stay within the speed limit.

My new car was delivered on 24 March.

I managed only 3 miles to fill the tank after dark. Total now 48.

Gutted. I’d normally have hundreds of miles on it in week 1.

I have used mine for going to work over the last two days instead of my van and worryingly the drivers came open at 70 on the motorway for no reason 😳

The drivers what?

Door?

The door opened by itself? At 70mph?

Sorry yes the door. I’m not sure why it happened maybe it wasn’t shut properly. It didn’t open all the way it clicked on the latch and the light came up on the dashboard.

Hey, you've got a sportline ... adrenaline galore! 😄

Picked my Quartz Grey Karoq 1.5 SEL DSG up on 16th March, nearly 100 miles on it now. Part exed my Cappuccino Beige Karoq 1.5 SEL DSG for it. Fitted mudflaps and messed about putting in the station logos in. Due to to give it a polish and waxing when the garden doesn't take precedent!

Mudflaps would be nice. I should probably order some while we have time on our hands ( and hopefully on our side).

How did you get new station logos in? It really bugs me that I have gaps!

Just noticed since the lockdown started 3 weeks ago and wife can work from home her Karoq petrol has used just 30 litres (about £35 when fuel was more expensive than now) since 13th February. Probably use it 3 times this week for work as I have done nearly 4,000 miles in my petrol Superb since December 28th 2019 (it needs a rest for at least 6 days).:)

Feel everyone’s pain, waited 5 months for mine. Turned up early March and managed a couple of weeks driving before the lock down!

going into work one in five days has allowed me to sit on the A2 (normally wouldn’t go near it pre lockdown in the mornings) and put the ACC on and let it pull itself into work! Been getting great MPG from the 1.0tsi probably never to be seen again after lockdown!

as long as I keep it in the 2,000 RPM rev range round town it’s got a little step up in power from the turbo. Only thing that is a little annoying is having to drop into 1st gear on roundabouts otherwise it dies or you won’t have enough power to get away quick enough below 2,000 RPM. Can’t hear the engine really at all. can’t wait to go for a long cruise after lockdown.

I've managed 800 miles since beginning of March! Mpg pic below

My 1.0 l was the same at first, if I didn't change down into 1st at roundabouts it stalled, wasn't at all impressed. It improves immeasurably as the miles go on and things loosen up and much better now.

That MPG pic is a journey of 12 miles. Can you post up the long term screen to give mpg over those 800 miles? They'll be people wanting to know what to expect from a 1.0tsi  Cheers.

Calculated on litres purchased since new and current odometer reading, after 12000 miles I average just under 48mpg from my 1.0 TSI, No commuting and not many traffic holdups, otherwise mixed bag of local and motorway.

Sure, a good 700 miles were pre lockdown and start/stop with a stretch of only around 3 miles I can get up to 50mph before stopping again.

Cheers. Very few people ever post log term which gives a much better indication of expected mpg than the extremes people usually post.

I'm sure that will be helpful to many. Thanks.

No probs, glad I could be of help.

Just for future reference.i park my karoq down a narrow drive and unable to open passenger door due to a wall.if battery happens to be flat how would I pop the bonnet due to the release catch moulded into the door trim

Seems it is possible...

I got back off holiday the other day. Had left my dashcam plugged in drawing a current. Alarm started to sound in the evening when we got back and I quickly realised what the cause of it was.

Anyway both front doors were deadlocked and could only get access to the rear doors. (Eventually learned about the cap you can flick off the drivers side handle and used that to get into drivers side)

No possible way from here on in to get at the bonnet, at least that's what I though until AA showed up.

Turns out you can gently manipulate the bonnet lever to open the bonnet from inside without opening the passenger door.

Quick jump start and right as rain again (after 30 mins of running time)

Thought may be useful to anyone who has come across similar issues before..
