2015 Mk 3 Octavia GVN60 Satnav and High quiescent current draw

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, the GVN60 Kenwood SatNav unit has been upgraded to the latest software version by Mitchells Skoda.  However, just before the UK Coronavirus lockdown, the GVN60 unit decided not to start, or at least, not show any display on the Bolero Infotainment head unit.  Prior to this it had been taking longer to acquire enough satellites to fix location.

Now if I attempt to switch to the GVN60 the display appears to turn off.  everything else works, including the 'Media' such as SDCard, Bluetooth etc.

As a result of the Coronavirus lockdown, my car has sat unused for a week or so.  I decided to start the engine yesterday and received a low voltage warning from the dashboard.

I plugged in my VCDS cable, the  indicated 'faults' were the expected 'Media switch error' due to the GVN60 unit being switched via this system, the HVAC system (Low voltage) and CAN bus (Quiescent current too high).

I am wondering if the faulty GVN60 unit is preventing the car from 'Sleeping' by drawing power continuously from the battery?

Any thoughts and / or solutions please?

Thanks and kind regards

Alan
