Front air vents.

Featured Replies

Recently bought my 2013 Octavia 3 estate from main dealer. Having problem with front air vents which only noticed now as a bit hot last few days. The 2 with the red crosses hardly, if at all, push any air through on max fan, whereas the 2 vents with green ticks, work has they should. I have tried the thing with holding down the 2 buttons to calibrate, but nothing changed after. Is it a hidden setting? Any thoughts please? Thanks.

I had a look down the vents today with a torch. Seems that that flap at the rear doesn't move (rotate), when the thumbwheels are rotated. I've pushed them open for now as airflow is controlled by the electronic buttons and can be turned on/off. Known issue or fix?

Sounds like a broken / disconnected linkage, I think the vents come out quite easily, I’m sure someone on here will tell you how. Just a bit unfortunate you have 2 faulty ones.

Had similar with the Yeti where one of the kids kicked the rear vent and disconnected the linkage, 5 minutes max to remove it, reconnect and refit. Just carefully levered out vent housing.

Replacement vents seem to be plentiful on eBay etc.

I hope it’s as simple for you and nothing is broken.

If you purchased it really recently I’d go and ask the main dealer to investigate, surely there must be some warranty.

Thanks for information. Yes, I’ll probably take it back to the main dealer when they’re back open, hopefully covered by the warranty. I can live with it for now.

Sounds like the linkage to the thumbwheel has come adrift or broken, you can see the linkage on one of the photo's on this one for sale on ebay. This is passenger side though. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SKODA-OCTAVIA-MK3-5E-2012-PASSENGER-SIDE-DASH-BOARD-AIR-VENT-FACIA-5E0819701A/303163269733?epid=4025101737&hash=item4695f06265:g:U8oAAOSwQXFc5RAf

Thanks for the reply. Does seem a bit odd that 2 of the vents have broken or not linked linkages. I noticed earlier while hard wiring a dash cam in to the fuse box that the damper was already disconnected on the glovebox. I reconnected it when I put the glovebox back. I wonder if the dash had been off before I bought it?

I doubt the dash has been off. The damper is a bugger to reconnect and the glove box has to come out to replace the pollen filter or swap out the heater blower motor.
