vRS Lock/Arm beep?

Featured Replies

Hi chaps/chapettes,

Im taking my vRS into the dealer next Friday for them to (hopefullly) sort out my wrinkly seats and look at my glovebox rattle (which im not expecting them to fix tbh, i dont want them to take the dash to bits!), and i was also going to get them to enable the beep/horn sounding when you arm/lock the car.

Now, my question is - i read somewhere that enabling this will give a "sound of the horn", but obviously i dont want that everytime i lock it, i just want a beep.

Can someone confirm that it is indeed a beep? Is it a beep i would of heard from somewhere else? Is it the horn? Is it a loud annoying beep that will make me regret having it enabled? Can someone post a WAV/MP3 recording of it:P ?!

Thanks:)

Mine was a beep, but I had it turned off as it drove me mad!

Also, I come home quite late at night, and I can imagine it annoying the neigbours.

It's a very loud 'chirp'

It is also very annoying, when going to work at 3 am and waking the neighbourhood.

Next time at the dealers, mine's getting switched off.

Come to the C&F meet and I'll sort it for nowt.

I would love to but........

I'm having a 'spot' of bother at the moment....which may turn into a monsoon.......:o

if I can be there, I will, cheers anyway.

2 beeps to unlock and 1 beep to lock.:) .........Happy Beeping..:)

Is there any way that the bleep volume can be turned down? Its just too loud

On mine i have it so that it beeps once when locked, and no beep when unlocked. I dont find the beep to be that loud, and it gives the impression to my fellow collage students that i have a super dooper alarm!

I find the single beep on lock is ideal, if you want to make it beep when you unlock, then you can simply lock the can then unlock it in 2 swift motions :p

You will look and sound the dogs ********.

On a serious note; the 1 click lock and unlock feature is brilliant and the anti hijack is also usefull. The single beep when locking is nice, however the double beep when unlocking is annoying. Getting VAGcom changed at the dealers may be expensive i think, It would be better to come along to a meet where someone has vagcom, Moose was very kinda at the Weston meet and sorted mine out.

If that made no sense, i blame no sleep last night :(

mine dont bleep at all .never has ,didnt know it cud? but my lights flash when locking or unlocking is this right?

Yeah thats normal :p, unless you have a fabia vRS made between october 2004 to december 2004 then as standard the foglights flashed a few times, some say its morse code for 'cant touch this', but thats just rumor.

You can get the beep turned on via VAGcom.

Cheers chaps. Am re-thinking getting in enabled due to the comments about it being annoying - shame i cant hear it for myself to decide whether it annoys me or not!

Don't think i want the anti-hijack enabled, that most likely would annoy me, and i tend to do it myself when im feeling insecure :P

With the anti hijack enabled how do you unlock the car again? do you have to turn the engine off or do you just pull the lock back up or something? Just wondered as thought the lcok went flush with the door when locked.

When you turn the key and pull out of the ignition, the drivers door will unlock, however all others will stay locked.

These can be unlocked by pressing the door unlock button (on the drivers side by the window updown thing), or by pulling on the door handles once to unlock, then a 2nd time to open.

When you turn the key and pull out of the ignition, the drivers door will unlock

There is also an option in VAG-COM to not do this (if you want the car to remain locked when you remove the key )

In addition, the indicator flashes can also be turned on/off for lock and unlock should you just wish to have a discrete lock/unlock :D

More details in the VAG-COM FAQ I wrote in the guides section on here :D

Can this be enabled on vRs's not made during this time (mine was reg in 08/04).

Also, the lock beep is fine but the unlocking beep is a pain.

It beeps twice when you unlock it (drivers side only), then if you don't press the unlock quickly again and you want to unlock all the doors it beeps twice again (literally milliseconds it seems!), if you want to unlock the boot via the key fob it also beeps twice. So sometimes it can beep 6 times. twice when opening drivers door, twice when opening other doors, and twice when opening boot which is a necessity as the boot is always full of grime and i want to keep my hands as clean as possible.

The ideal compromise would be beep on lock, not on unlock and if possible fog lights also flash when locks.

hehe sorry I think my post went over your head :p

I was hoping 'some say its Morse code for 'cant touch this', but that’s just rumour.' would give it away :p.

You might be able to make the fog lights flash, not sure to be honest. Mine beeps on lock, and not on unlock. Ideal :)

mine unlocks all doors when key removed from ignition

Anti Hijack.

When you go over X MPH (about 10) the door lock on the outside.

All doors can be opened from the inside, none including the boot can be opened from the outside.

On mine, (Oct 03) until a door is opened from the inside, all doors will remain locked from the outside, even when the key is removed from the ignition.

hehe sorry I think my post went over your head :p

I was hoping 'some say its Morse code for 'cant touch this', but that
