Fuel Filter

Featured Replies

Just a note does anyone know where the fuel filter is on a 2018 Skoda Fabia Estate 1.0 TSI 110 bhp

I have had a look and there's no filter where there used to be at the rear near the tank on the side, it's not under bonnet as the fuel pipes come from the tank and go through the chassis at the front and appear in the engine bay, so I'm guessing it might be in the tank ? or is it that obvious that I can't see it

I've just looked up the same age VW Polo parts listing, and yes it has vanished, it was there on previous versions but not now, which does not surprise me as VW Group consider that these petrol filters are to replaced only if faulty/failed, now not a periodic service item.

My 2011 Audi S4 does not have one!  Progress?

Ah seems to be the norm now days I had to change the car in 2018 due to older Fabia been written  off by an un insured driver, what a faff and ended up costing me money all round

On the older Fabia I changed oil and filter every year air fuel and plugs every 2 years, when car was written off with 97000 miles  I bought car back from insurers and a friend had the engine off me and it's still going great with 121000 still doesn't use oil so cannot understand the logic of not being able to change filters like the fuel one at a regular interval, I think once the car is out of warranty I'll take the rear seat out and check if the filter is in the tank and hope it can be cleaned unless you have to buy the whole tank unit to get a new filter !!!!!

Is it not as in this pic, right underneath the outboard front end of the tank? https://skoda.7zap.com/en/cz/fabia/fab/2016-797/2/201-201015/

That parts site seems to be a bit behind when compared with others, that is the previous version of Fabia which is same as 6C Polo and similar aged Ibiza .

Unless you are doing about 50k miles a year I can't see any merit in changing the fuel filter on a 2018 petrol car.

Thanks for the diagram looks like it could be the same apart for a cover that fits over the filter but I cannot actually see the filter or any part of it as the cover seems tight and does look like it's part of the tank or it's fitted over the tank  mounts I do  agree with what you said just wanted to know if there was a filter present on this model as part numbers were  confusing for the year on the filter, the car is still under warranty anyway so I will not worry about it yet, I was just curious as I've  had issues with dealers services before saying parts were "replaced" and being charged for the parts only to find when checked they had not been replaced

Car engine code is DKRC 1.0 TSI 110BHP

Just a update for this question it's now 2023 and only this week I finally found out that the fuel filter on this car is there but it's a carbon type fuel filter the part number is 6C0201804A and main dealers only order on a special and I was quoted arund £150 just for the part plus VAT, there are a few used on the bay but I also found out they are a fit for life unit and unless there's a fuel issue or a leak they are not a service replacement, it's located at the reardrivers side on a right hand drive model just  behind the rear wheel and is bolted to tank frame via a 10mm head bolt and a screw bolt in the wheel arch so won't be changing this untill it plays up looks hard to get at the fuel pipe fittings and seems like it comes out via the rear  wheel arch side as the top of the unit looks to big to just slide down

That's not a fuel filter, that's the carbon canister, part of the EVAP system for reducing fuel vapour release. The only* part number for it that I can see listed as a spare part for a 2018 Fabia is 6C0201801A (typo above, presumably) @ £67.55 + VAT, but don't buy it if you think it will filter your liquid fuel, cos I'm pretty sure it won't. Follow the feed pipe all the way back from the fuel rail on the engine and see if it goes there.

*Edit, just found another - 6R0201797 (£87.85 + VAT) for a different variant of petrol fuel system. If you tell me the car's VIN I can tell you which ETKA says yours should have.

Normally you can conveniently read off the part number of the fuel filter if it exists, and I'd now reckon that it does, it will be located on the RHS of the car just in front of the rear wheel.

Edit:- also look out for the pressure rating of it (or its built in regulator)  should be 6.6bar if your car has PR:1A2 which means that you have a direct injection engine. which makes that filter p/n 1K0 201 051K, that is based on info for 1.2TSI 110PS 2015, but still tha same for 2018 VW Polo 1.2TSI 110PS, but check your car.

Another edit:- I've left this reply here, but added a comment in the next posting that it could be that your car was built after petrol filters were deleted on Fabia.

Ignore that posting of mine for the time being, something looks different for Skoda - but why?

Edit:- really do look under your car as it might have been deleted by this point in production of a Skoda - seeing is believing! (some thing that I should do on my wife's car!)

Another edit:- I have now looked under my wife's July 2015 build Polo 1.2TSI 110PS and it does have the filter where it has always been since back in late 2001 on VW Polos, and for Fabia since "the start".

Actually, has this thread not gone a complete circle, you said the first time round that you could not find any signs of a fuel filter where it would normally be located, the parts listing for your age of car agrees, so I'd think that that is that!

The car is a 2019 1.0 TSI 110 BHP estate   vin TMBKR6NJ5KZ088254 and engine code DKRC, really confusing information given from dealers again looks like they are not sure what's what, car is ok just carry out service myself and could not understand where the filter might be unless it's in the tank ?  cannot find it anywhere under the car or bonnet or near the rear by fuel tank, can see the fuel lines and they seem to go to up over the tank, there's 2 pipes one black and one off white both have 90 elbow clip type connectors as they go up in front of the tank ,without stripping the arch liner and fuel filler out I can't really see what's what, nothing is listed for this model apart from the alloy type can/filter but god knows where it's located cannot see it anywhere so assume they never fitted one

Will see what I can tell you via the VIN shortly.

Here's your answer:

For completeness, though now irrelevant I think, the charcoal canister version for your car, which has PR-code 1E1 as well as 1A2 shown in screenshot, is the 6R0201797 part number mentioned previously

Oh, and in case you're wondering if it's worth changing the fuel pump to get a new filter, Skoda want £254 + VAT for that part number! 😲

Many thanks for the information very helpful, don't think I'll  be changing this part unless it plays up ,rather a lot to just replace a filter!!, Skoda dealer supplied me with the prior information and prices so I think I'll steer clear of thier parts deptment if Ineed anything in future

Oh my god finally someone find an answer. This thing drives me crazy last 3 days. My 2022 1.0 TSI car become 60k+ and I changed almost everything (air - oil - cabin filters , spark plugs , breake rotors and pads, oil ,coolant, breake fluid).

And ofc I wanted to change fuel filter and checked around every inch of fuel tank there is nothing... I wanted to  get the oem code for the order but no.

Started to make research on internet (literally not much information for the 2021 + 1.0 tsi engines )

Finally saw this and wanted to thank you.

Small question: If the fuel filter inside of the tank and regarding the picture looks like not a proper filterin would not be a problem ? And if the filter stucks do we have to replace all fuel delivery unit ?

Thanks a lot.

I'll hazard a guess, stupid maybe, that what is being referred to as an into tank filter, will only be a single gauze screen to protect the in tank lift pump, if that ends up getting choked, and it shouldn't, the high pressure fuel system would under perform and you would get to know about that.

Nowadays, with lots of newer cars, replaceable petrol fuel filters are a thing of the past, so this can now be ignored as a preventative maintenance service task.

Edit: one "can" removed, no "can can" intended!

Update: As i expected my engine gave me code for ''low fuel rail pressure code + fuel injector offset learning at min limit for 2 injectors (2and 3)  '' Im pretty sure that filter is bad or clogged. When I take the car to dealership they asked me 2000euro+tax. Isnt that amazing ? :D

Aslo its a 2022 1.0 tsi DLAC engine.

That seems like a very high price. What is that quote for, which part(s) and how much labour time?

Is it still under warranty?

Thanks. AG Falco

If your petrol filter is blocked, then either you are allowing contamination into the tank, someone has dropped something in on purpose or using very poor quality fuel....

Ive taken so many fuel tanks and filters of of new and old petrol cars and never had any excessive contamination that wasnt caused by outside influence.

Low fuel rail pressure can be caused by the low pressure pump or high pressure pump - have either of their outputs been checked for what kind of flow rate/pressure?

Hello guys thanks for the replies. I checked the repair offer paper its for fuel pump + injector replacement.

Today I checked/tested almost everyhing  EVAP - MAP sesnor - Fuel line  - Vacuum leak test - high rpm no smoke from exhaust - coolant has no oil contamination (i thought maybe gasket or cylinder gone bad) - no oil consumtion.

After cleaning fuel line and fixing vacuum leaks (there was some) i get rid of low fuel rail pressure code.

But injector one still there. Next week i will try to replace MAP sesnor and will check EGR + oxygen sensors

Calculated from paper 2 injector replacement 930 Euros+taxes.

Falco car is 72000 km no warranty :)

Apertures since i bought this car I will always buy fuel from shell (company fuel card) car never seen another fuel brand :D Now in in idle fuel rail pressure is around 2.8 -3.0 PSI but before i checked everything it was in idle 2.5 - 2.7.

Edited by Onurek

I also read some article about PCV valve and EGR may cause this issue. When i was checking MAP sesnor i saw oil in intake manifold that might be the cause if not i will move EGR and oxgen sensors.
