I know what you mean. And this is why I don't regret having spent xx.xxx € for a stage 3, we only live once. Anyway, even if I'm already used to it, every time i drive my Superb i have a big smile on my face.

:D You're right. What drives me crazy is all that V8 porn (and Hans Zimmer's soundtrack too). Maybe it's because of this movie that my dream is to drive a loud v8 as a daily car, cruising at 1.000 rpm at low speeds for the whole time :cool:

Would the worse economy and road tax make you go broke though? Also, read a few posts back about living only once, it's all the argument you'd need really.  Actually I don't think you have heavy family duties as in children and their endless... stuff?  At least you haven't mentioned anything about it so the Superb doesn't really make much sense now that i think about it, you could/should be in an RS5 enjoying life :tongueout:

Not sure if the car was stock in that video or it had a res delete (which is a fairly easy job anyway) but the engine noise was unreal, if someone asked me what it is without looking i'd definitely say some sick italian V8, made me go straight to car ads...

They said the original owner had specified the optional titanium sports exhaust so probably the expensive Akropovic system.

Yeah I saw that but apparently according to owners there was no such thing as "optional titanium exhaust" or Akrapovic option, they have mixed up the packages. There was a titanium package which was about different wheels and some other minor mods and then there was the Sports exhaust option (not in titanium though) which is probably what that car has at least.

Still, such a sick sound, even more for today's standards and that's due to its engine. You can throw any exhaust you want on a 2.0 TSI and it won't even come close to that sound.

@shyVRS245 you don't know what "superbollo" is. And what it means, here in Italy. Do you know how much you would have to pay for that RS5 here in Italy, over normal taxes? (331 kw - 185 kw) x 20 €/kw = 2.920 €/yr. This only for owning a car with more than 185 kw.

So here it's better to import a brand new american v8 and get it registered with "250 hp", so you don't have to pay this hated tax called "Superbollo". Like this one, for example:

This is why I want to keep my Superb as silent as possible, not meaning I hate this sound (actually I appreciate it even a little), but you need more than 4 cyl to get a proper sound on a car, IMHO...

I actually thought when you went over 2.0 litres in Italy you got hammered on tax. Here it is either price new (over £40,000) or high emissions. I high polluter like a Ferrari 812 Superfast would be £2,000 for the first years tax (VED).

Lucky Shy... your neighbors must be two hot girls in their 20s that are extremely social and like to party all the time aren't they?  I mean in that case I completely understand all that sympathy, if not it would just not be enough to prevent me from getting my mid-life crisis V8 for sure.

I mean sure don't let it idle for 10 minutes, just turn on and drive and it should be fine as long as you don't run some silly exhaust on it. I'm all for good neighbor relations but getting their permission over which car to drive is a bit too much, but then I do have a closed garage so maybe it's easier to speak  :speechless:

That is INSANE, I had no idea it was that bad. I wonder how the sales of >400bhp cars have been affected from that, even if you have a comfortable life and 6 digit year income you just can't accept donating such a chunk of it to the state idiots. Even more because this correlation of private car's kw and environmental impact is completely beyond any scientific study, i wonder if you have a similar tax for say the BTU of the air-conditioners? Has anyone looked into that? Anyway this can go really off-topic so I'll just leave it to that.

But i have one question: how can the car be registered with lower bhp even if it's imported, when the manufacturer's data show otherwise? Is there some special exception for american muscle??

I don't know exactly how it is possible. But consider that "cavauto" is the official GM and FCA importer for Italy. The importer registers the cars with their characteristics. There is certainly a way to justify a reduced power compared to the original version.
I really don't know which way they get this registration, but I'm sure it has to be something really stupid like a pin that doesn't let you push gas pedal all the way down, so you couldn't get all the power out. 🤦‍♂️

Didn't have the Dragy when stock but I had measured with a 10Hz GPS system the stock time a few times, and was around 16.5" - 17" 

Plenty of the current stage 1 dragy slips though if you look at the first pages!

Latest one was a 1/4 mile pass of 12.18" (one page back but also added to the first page for consistency)

Ah, I never measured 0-60 stock but it definitely starts with a 5 at the front based on my JB4 measurements.

Skoda claim 5.5 seconds for a 268bhp (95 octane fuelled) 7 speed DSG hatch. The estate being slightly heavier should manage 5.6 seconds.

Surprised, my last 2.0 + was a '56 plate 3.0 V6 Mondeo wagon, purchased in 2008 & sold in 2014, (I'd already bought my Superb & fancied a convertible, didn't really need two large cars. 

I did buy my first house in '74 & the current one in '85 though........

 

I still can't find a replacement for the old Superb or the Golf though.......I've now had 2 test drives in the same Superb 272 wagon, it will "just" fit into SWMBO's garage but it didn't "talk" to me. No. 1 stepson visited this week in his Arteon & just managed to get through the garage doorway (2127 mm over the mirrors, compared with 2031 for a Superb 3, 2027 for a Mk.7 Golf or 2009 for a Superb 2) but shutting the roller shutter garage doors wasn't possible.

Today I'm also pulling the trigger on Revo Stage 1. TVS Stage 2+ for the box will follow soon:)

@newbie69 - on which SPS setting you're running the car? The dealer suggested to setup 97 mode for me, and he says that even during the summer there shouldn't be any issues as long as I'm running on 100 octane fuel. What's your experience during the summer months (even though I know Swedish summer is a bit colder that the Bulgarian one)?

Uhmmm, I don't know, I've moved on :D
 



Joking aside, my stage 1 was set at 98+ performance mode and same for the stage 2 and didn't have any issues.

But a) we do run a bit colder over here than you guys, and b) there's Ethanol 85 available in fuel stations when some help is needed with timing in the hotter months, I usually mix it to E10 or E20 levels during summer if I am to chase all of the performance.

Then save your time and money and ask them to flash the stage 2 map instead :tongueout:  I didn't upgrade the inter-cooler and downpipe stays stock anyway.
