DTUK PEDAL BOX

Featured Replies

Hey guys.

Would there be any benefit to fitting a pedalbox without a tuning box installed on a 2020 Superb DSG TDI 150??

Cheers

I have the pedal box fitted and it transforms the feel. Whereas before it was press the accelerator, nothing, press a bit harder, nothing, press a bit harder zoom off you go.

Now the throttle is completely linear, responding to every movement of the pedal.

Don't turn the dial up to far because you will frighten the life out of yourself!

Wot he said!

Sorry to jump into this thread but I have just received my DTUK pedal box for my 190 tdi DSG and would welcome any pointers on how to remove the coin holder to be able to hold the controller for the pedal box, or if anyone had any other ideas of where to stow it.

Thanks,

Chris

If it's the same holder/cubbie as in the LHD models, just below the light switch (circled in the photo)...

...then just open it normally as fully as it gets, then continue to push down harder for it to further pivot and it will come out.
There's going to be some resistance and might seem as if you're going to break something but the only thing keeping it in place are some tabs at the back which are slightly higher and thus behind the outter plastic frame.
They are flexible enough to give in if using a bit of brute force, I have done this 3-4 times already when routing the pedal box controller and JB4 cables.

Brilliant, thanks. Was a bit concerned about using brute force but it came out easily. Have threaded the wire into the back of the cubbie and the controller is now safely stowed and no loose wire that may get snagged on my leg/foot - which was my concern. Thanks again. Chris

How do insurance Companies take to pedal boxes? As they don't increase performance in theory your premium should stay the same right?

Many quotes I got last time round either just wanted to know or only added a small amount.

On the subject of these, how universal are they and how would a 272 respond to having one fitted? Planning on getting a 272 soonish and thought I could transfer over from my octy.

I transferred mine from my Mk7 Golf GTI Clubsport to my 272, works a breeze but they share the same engine (even though the 272 is a newer revision). Not sure about the diesel though, just contact DTUK and ask I guess.

I'd say the effect on the 272 being AWD is more noticeable. The response on both cars significantly "woke up" with the pedal box, but on a tuned GTI, full throttle instantly could easily result in wheel-spin at low speeds. On the 272 it just goes no questions asked, i'd say it's a must on this car.

I agree with your logic, but you still have to declare the modification. Some companies aren't bothered, others will charge a premium, a few won't touch you. You have to ask.

Aviva wouldn't insure me if I fitted one. So I didn't.
