these dropped out to surprise me!

Featured Replies

Put photos on my "build" thread -ought to be dismantling thread at the moment, two things caught my attention whilst removing the nears side plastic wheel arch liners, firstly the front where a piece of dense foam dropped out from the door side and secondly a clear tube that was loose from the rear one.

Can anyone identify if the tube is a drain for fuel spilled whilst fuelling which is what I suspect , but not sure at all about the foam only it might be there to stop resonation of the wing, but no sign of adhesive .

Thanks

Martin

I have an identical piece of foam under the front wing of my Yeti, its to provide some rigidity to the mid point of the wheelarch in the bacofoil panel.

I removed the wing to do some panelbeating on the bench and it came out stuck to the panel.

Yes they are glued under the wings am guessing for strength

Can't really see the plastic tube being from the fuel filler if it was on the near-side coz the fuel filler is on the other side.

Looking again at your picture it looks like the offside to me. If so, there is indeed a clear plastic drain tube that is attached to the bottom of the fuel filler housing. Item 4 here....

Hi Lee, that's it ,I cleaned the area around the filler neck as it was very thick with grime and diesel last year, maybe I pushed it off by accident.

Where did you get the parts image,  is it on the fabia site as I have not noticed it.

Thanks

I just got the image from a google image search 🙂

On the MKV golf those foam inserts under the wings rubbed through the paint on the inner lip and casued premature rust, there was a TSB to trim them down but I doubt many dealers bothered to carry this out.
