Folks as the title says I need advice. I have been on here for probably over a year now researching and becoming very jealous of the awesome cars on show. It has came the time for me to change my current car a 2015 Ford Focus 1.5 petrol. I am looking and have been very interested in the 245 vrs since I joined here. I have found a car that I like. The problem being its in carlisle and I am in Belfast. Is there anything in particular I should be looking out for when buying across the water? Thanks in advance for your help 😊

There should be no issue as it's the UK. As long as you're content with the car's service history and HPI check,  if it's not brand new. Good luck. 

Thanks I thought that. Its a 2017 with only 12k on the clock, from my understanding its one of the original ones that had everything specced so not a bad car in that respect.

I would have to agree, the value in how much car you get for your money. The power as well something similar in other form is +2/3k and even more again. Just went to check there about emailing the dealer again and its no longer available. Standard 

I will continue to look but any advice of what I should be looking out for is greatly appreciated. 

Is it a white estate at a Volvo dealer by any chance?

Yes I very nearly bought it myself on weds.. have you done the deal? I see it’s gone from Autotrader..

No I haven't unfortunately, I have been waiting for them to email me finance details to start negotiations but they have yet to reply to me and when I went on literally 15 minutes ago to have a look at the specs of it again it wasn't there. Are you near Carlisle then? It looks a really tidy car apart from a mark on the back bumper. 

No I’m 300 miles away in Berkshire, so I haven’t actually seen it, only the video they sent me and the pics they added to the advert. It does look like a good one although the second service was due in November last year and hasn’t been done which is what ultimately put me off. 

Flip thats not great it not having been done. That was going to be one of my next line of questions for them. The wife learnt the hard way with her last mini. This was six years ago and her mini Cooper d was a nightmare car. In 6 months of ownership it was in the garage more than out of it. So a 3 year old cars service folder was 26 pages before she even took ownership. 

That’s not good, must have taken the shine off the new car..
 

Is it only an estate you’re looking for? This is not far from you and looks even better but it’s pricey, and a hatch.

Yea it did but she ended up getting the money that she paid back and she went privately elsewhere. You know I actually emailed about that earlier, there is a provisional agreement on it pending finance matters. I'm free to look at it though. I was already going up to the same place about a red estate at midday so sent an email about that. Ill be honest I'm not bothered over estate or hatch but what I am unsure about is manual or dsg. I've driven a gtd manual and a gti dsg and preferred the dsg so I assume it'll be the same with the vrs. 

They don’t hang around for sale do they! Both those white ones only came on a few days ago.

That car's really expensive though. You could buy new ones for that money last June, albeit without the extra toys. 

Yea they don't thats the issue. Went up to drive a red manual estate there. It was really nice but he said they have one thats just came in. Meteor grey, sunroof, canton sound and dsg. I was just thinking dont look too excited haha.
