Plasti-dipped Skoda Badges

Featured Replies

Just spend the afternoon plastidipping the Skoda badges front and rear on my Vrs. Couldn't justify spending 40€ a piece on superskoda, so went with this instead.

Said I'd put up pictures of it if anyone else was thinking on doing it. Would have preferred a gloss finish but I was just using up what I already had at home so matte had to do.

Definetely looks better than the oem chrome badges in my opinion.

I do like the matt plasti-dip effect you've got, and it's what I would have done had I not found SuperSkoda were doing a discount period across their stock (which they occasionally do - worth looking out for).

For comparison, this is what the Monte Carlo black (metallic flecked) version looks like on Moon White (not a great photo though, apologies).

I wander what I black gloss badge with matte background would look like.....

Like the full matte look though.

I think your badge Ads230 looks the best on white anyway. I'lll keep an eye out for a discount on superskoda.

@DeltaOscar nice job!

I haven’t removed the Skoda or Octavia badges so plan on doing the same to all of mine.

I think Plasti-dip do a glossifier that you spray over the matte paint to give a gloss effect. Pretty sure it works in the same way with the overspray peeling/rubbing off although If you plan on doing that then I’d double check first.

Ya, I heard about that glossifier stuff alright. Not sure if I can apply it on top of it now to make it gloss.

I'm happy enough with it as is anyway. Might buy a badge like ads230 if this starts to peel or something. Plasti-dipped the grille on my last car and it still looked fine a year later when sold so seems to last well enough.

Personal choice and each to his own etc but I dont like the plain black badge, could be any black plastic disc to my (admittedly defective) eyes.

I really like the black logo and surround on the white background, your badge might look equally as good if you were to remove the black from the logo and paint that part white, make effectively a negative of the one shown.

The best way of course would have been to paint the badge white before the plasticoat & then remove it exposing the logo in white.

In fact you have inspired me, I dont particularly like the green Skoda logo insert, my bonnet badge is cracked from the accident and the panel a little dented around it, I will remove it to do some PDR and then try and replicate the white on black badge.

That glossifier will also keep it from fading if U can get your hands on a tin. Good job by the way

The great thing with the glossifier is that you can add that at any time after too. Just make sure it's clean and dry etc before applying and you won't have any issues! I once did a set of wheels and decided I wasn't too keen on the matte look so ordered the metallic flakes which you can get in various colours and added to it like that which gave it a great finish!

Hmmm I've got the SuperSkoda Monte Carlo (all metallic black) front & rear badges, they've been on the car for very nearly 3 years & still look brand new. So yes expensive but, the quality is worth the price

As a little update to the 'black badge' discussions, I recently updated the rear look of my hatch. Not for everyone, I'm sure, but I wanted a cleaner understated look without fully de-badging the rear.

Figured that the Skoda emblem negates the need for "Skoda" lettering, and that simply replacing "Octavia" and "VRS" in black would create a bit of imbalance, with them only on the upper and lower RHS respectively.

Other half knocked it up in Photoshop, then I spent a happy afternoon removing original badges and replacing them. I'm happy with how it turned out
