Headlights on?

Featured Replies

I wonder who in Skoda thought “Wow... I’ve got a good idea - let’s leave out the “headlights on” information light in the instrument panel and then they’ll have no idea if they’re on or off...” Genius!

lol yes I've wondered about this. I just leave the car in Auto headlights and trust that they've come on!

Surely there must be a VCDS tweak to enable this?

Only if the light is actually installed which, on looking at the manual it would  seem, it doesn’t...

You can tell from the light switch if the headlights are on or off.

Which is exactly the same as the MKII however, that also has a warning lamp in the instrument cluster. One you can see in ones peripheral vision, the other you can’t.

Thanks Kenny R! I didn't realise that. Now I know.

I didn’t know this either. Thanks!

Such a bloke thing lol “rtfm”

When I picked up my new Sportline, I got a quick briefing by the salesman of all the car controls. He said, "Set the light switch on Auto and forget it" so I did.

I enjoyed problem-free driving for two years, until I took the car in for its second service. Sometime later, I went through a tunnel and the dash lights did not come on as expected. WTF !! I thought something was broken. I thought I'll get out this code checker I've had in my boot and never used and see if I can get a fault reading. While I was down looking to plug the code reader in, I noticed the light switch. The service mechanic had turned it to "O".

😂

Three and a half years now, and I still haven't found an excuse to try out this code reader.

the only time I've ever been caught out is in fog, if it's not dark enough headlights aren't on and I don't always feel the need to put the foglights on at the first sign of mist...

In 30 years of driving i've never felt the need to put my front foglights on - only use i've had for them is too flash them at people with them on and no fog........

Snap. Same thing for me this week. I guess the service techs turn off the lights to stop them coming on in auto in the darker work spaces & killing your battery. They also put the seats in the lowest "F1" style position & fiddle with the radio. Takes me 3 mins to reset everything before I can drive it home 😠

Exactly this!

A long burst of full beam AFS Xenons to the face usually helps them realise they look ridiculous

Fog light w*nkers could be put to a stop, by having ONE switch for “all fog lights.” I bet they wouldn’t want to be seen driving in normal conditions with rear fogs on, people might think they’re clueless & uncool...

C’mon.... You have to have your front fog and side lights on when you don’t have daytime lights; it’s the law.....🙄
