Hello I'm trying to source a part for my handbrake the Equalizing Bracket/ compensating clamp or whatever its called has bent.  Iv tried everywhere to get the part(number 2 in picture) .  the first one to show where I can get this part deserves a blue peter badge :).   Iv a Skoda fabia mkiii but know there are other make and models use the same part. Any help would be much appreciated.

Are you sure it's bent, and not just lopsided cos one of the cables isn't moving as much as the other? Got a photo?

Can you not whip one off a car at a scrapyard? 

 

As above, as you will discover, you will need to buy one from an earlier VW Group car, I bought one in haste it was a VW Golf maybe 2004 model, for a 2002 Polo - then worked out what was wrong and fixed it and the equaliser loop straightened up!

cheers, yes its really bent 90 degree I will try shopping on VW site.  I tried scrap yard was told the part was probably thrown out as they didn't keep that part?

Yes "age" of part sounds correct, probably what I bought accidentally.
