Weird Wiper Problem

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Got a very strange problem with my wipers at the moment. They work perfectly on slow and medium speed, but when the stalk is raised to the "fast" position, they simply stop working.

I have had the stalk replaced, and the problem is still there. I have also had the wiper motor checked out, and thats apparently fine.

Does anyone have any ideas of what the problem can be?

How can i diagnose if there is a fault between the stalk and the motor (the wiring)?

Anyone?

(Vagcom does not pick anything up either)

Cheers :D

Hi Mate

Probably the wiper linkage starting to seize.

You may catch it , but it is a common problem on these.

The parts are not that expensive though

I would say if one speed has stopped working its the motor myself.

Is there any way I can test the motor myself?

While it may not be the relay have you had that changed? It caused all sorts of problems on my car and they had tried changing everything else before that.

EDIT:

If you're paying it might just be worth borrowing one from a good car trying it and confirming that that has no effect. It's a much cheaper option than changing other parts I would have thought.

My car did just the same.

Ended up with a new motor and all is now fine.

Roger.
