Octy vRS prices and more

Featured Replies

Hi guys been stalkin on here for a while now :D

Looking to get meself a nice vrs some time soon but prices seam to be all over the place at the moment.

While im not a stranger to the search button i know that most of you woulnt hesitate to buy a high millage car so im beginning to consider them as i intend to keep this car for a while.

There also seams to be minimal stuff to look out for when buying one, not like buying a french car! Does this still apply with the older models (2000-2003)

Oh and lastly how many of you lot are from Sheffield/South Yorks area

 Cheers Matt

Hi Matt

welcome to briskoda the only advice i can give is to go and look at a few check the condition of the interior as generally it lets you know how the car's been treated , I bought mine a year ago i had looked at about 6 or 7 between 2001-2003 ended up buying a 2001 model from a garage , found out later that it had been owned by a briskodian ! it was one of the oldest but in the best condition both inside and out as with a lot of things you'll know when you've found a diamond , by the way as far as price goes don't expect the most expensive to be the nicest / cleanest example .

Keep an eye on the For Sale section on here - the odd one appears from time to time.

Usually two or three on Ebay too.

Thanks for the info guys.

As for keepin an eye out on here pah! I keep lookin and there is hardly ever anything you all like to keep them too much :p

Skoda UK have a pretty good search facility for used cars but i'm sure you already know and have looked.

mine was the second car i looked at and to be honest the first i drove with real interest in buying...

as above though at the time it was too good to miss so i put a deposit down straight away... then again it was only 6 months old at the time with 1200 miles on the clock... its covered 34K miles now and is still the best car i've ever had.

hmmm stop it the clio is gettin on now and you lot arent helping matters :D

I was doing the same as you for a couple of months, but looking for a 4x4 Estate. I did the rounds at the "local" dealers, and had a quick test drive in a vRS Estate in Lincoln. 30 minutes later I'd traded in my golf, and was the proud owner of a '53 plate vRS Estate which I've been happily driving round for about 6 weeks now.

There's usually a few out there - Bickertons (on Penistone Road on the way up to Hillsborough) don't seem to have too many vRS (they tend to have a few Elegance in most of the time), but they will look for one for you. The dealers down in Mansfield seemed to have a good selection of Octy's in (including vRS), but they were next on the list after Dennis Horton over in Lincoln, where I was seduced by the vRS:) . It's not a huge trip out from Sheffield, and they did me a really good deal on a non-Skoda (something to watch out for if you're trading in the clio). They didn't have any other vRS's at the time, but were (again) very happy to keep an eye out.

I was surprised at the skoda uk website for used car searches. Having bought used from dealers before, there was generally nothing older than 2-3 years on the forecourts. However, with Skoda there seemed to be a good selection up to about 5 years old.

Well i keep driving past Bickerton and yea they dont have much in (vrs anyway) Not objective to driving to around for a car ill go within 100miles of sheffield which is a good distance

There is one near me goin cheap as its on 80k so im guessing needs the service doing hence the price. (How much does it run you as a matter of interest anyway(non dealer)) Going to go and look at it tomorrow i think then i might have to bite the bullet and go get a loan as well as get my plate transfered across

;) If you look on ebay at the moment there is a vRs (silver 02 plate) sitting at 5200 which I think is a bargin it has 25000k on the clock have a look there is 2days to go and it has no reserve on it go on go 4 it:thumbup: .I got my one(02 plate) for a woman in broxburn (scotland) yello and only 30000k on the clock 4 6900
