Fabia monte carlo mk2 1.6cc petrol

Featured Replies

Hello there, its my first post here

I drive a 2012 fabia monte carlo 1.6cc 16v petrol. I'm having issues with the oil temperature, It runs about 102c° but sometimes reaches about 111c°

Considering that i'm in africa with a daytime temperature around 40-45°c

Is It normal?

How are you reading the oil temperature ?

Ah ok, did not realise this was on petrol versions apart from the RS.

Because of your daytime temperatures, the engine is always going to run hotter than they would do in Europe or here in GB for example.

Engine oil optimum temp range is

230- 250° F which is 110 - 120° C

There's nothing to worry about but if it worries you then don't monitor the oil temperature since there is no action you can take and the sensor may not necessarily be very accurate anyway.

get it on my diesel

Just make sure to do proper oil changes, with the correct grade, at the correct time. Also, keep the coolant fresh. It may need changing more frequently in that climate. Go by the book or check with the local VW/Skoda dealership.

Wrong as usual. You can fit an external oil cooler and the gauge is very accurate.

You're just a troll really, a chequebook tuner with no sound engineering experience at all otherwise you wouldn't say these things, I'm trying to help the OP while you shout and show off.

Thermistors are not accurate, they get worse as they age, I would expect it to be as much as ten percent out by now.

But then you knew that already, amirite?

You mean the same oil temp sensor that any respectable tuner would use through vcds or any other logging system?

oh look an oil cooler on a Monte Carlo Must be photoshopped . 😉

You can fit an oil cooler to your lawnmower if you like, it's your money, you can throw it anywhere you like.

The OP's oil temperature is within the normal range and he doesn't need one because his car is otherwise standard.

How do you know it’s in normal range if the sensor isn’t and I’ll quote you here “may not necessarily be very accurate anyway” ?
