is water pump change standard...

Featured Replies

when the cambelt is changed? or should I ask the garage specifically to change it at the same time? What else can be done/should be done at the same time as this and my 60k service to save potential pain later?

Well worth getting the water pump and tensioner changed at the same time as the cambelt.

On all engine types?

yup

noodles, instead of getting a standard pump fitted i recommend getting a first line pump fitted instead as it is all metal instead of having a plastic impellor :)

will skoda fit that for me?

Just got the quote from the skoda garage for everything, and I am nearly in tears!

Cambelt change: 280

60k service (changing from fixed to variable): 300 quid...

That damn expensive oil, the interval better stretch to nearly 20k or else! I suppose the haldex work adds a bit to the cost as well. there goes my re-map money for now!

I would go elsewhere, but I have a warranty with them for the moment.

:(

I remember when I got the cambelt changed on my Passa TD Umwelt Engine, I went and purchased the items from German & Swedish, They were a lot cheaper.

The cambelt tensioner was made by Bilstein, can't be better than that.

Give them a try, I'm sure they will save you money.

Haldex oil is around £11 every 20K/2 years and the filter around £24 every 40K - plus labour.
