Skoda Connect?

Featured Replies

Does anyone use the Skoda Connect app?

Is it worth my time setting up or more a novelty?

Cheers,

It seems completely pointless to me.  I can’t see any benefit in it, certainly nothing worth paying for.

I use it and pay for both parts.

The main benefit is that it allows me to have real time traffic info without a cable connected phone.

Depends a little bit on the car and what's available. Only 'Infotainment Online' is available for mine and the only useful elements it adds (imo) are live traffic (if I provide it Internet from my phone every journey) and the ability to upload destinations to the sat nav from my computer.

Unfortunately as my car hadn't been ordered with 'Care Connect' (which is different to just 'Connect') I can't get the stuff like remote lock/unlock, Park position, driving data etc.

Yes I suppose that’s comparing apples to oranges as my SIII with Columbus and SIM slot may well be a different configuration to other people’s cars. Due to the car’s age, I can’t get the remote locking but the park position etc is part of the ‘other half’ of the package. I will probably only stick with the RTTI info part going forward.

I've had a little mess around with basics this morning and agree with you.

Dont think my model supports many of the features I'd have liked anyhow.

My Kodiaq supports a few of the features.

I can plan a destination on the app and send it to the car so once I get in the car I don't need to program the sat nav.
It has Live traffic
I can lock/unlock the car remotely, (quite why this feature is needed escapes me.)
I can turn the lights on or open the windows remotely(again, quite why I wopuld want to do this I don't know)
I can check the fuel economy, well sort of, that is a bit flaky and often wrong compared to what it says in the car.
I can check where I last parked the car, like I would forget.

As my Kodiaq supports Android Auto, which I use all the time, I see no need for the traffic or destination setting as Waze is far superior to what is in the car, the rest I just see as a gimmick.

I´m on my first free year with Skoda Connect - and use it to remotly start the Webasto-heater (when the remote/car is too far away). And rarely check the remaining fuel (if I have to go upp early and fill the tank), check so I haven´t forgot to lock the car and so on. So I think i continue to pay for it after the first free year.

We don’t have the Webasto option in the UK.    That is a reason in itself to have the app.

My car came with this fitted but I never bothered to activate it as it was only free for the first year. I couldn't think how anything that it offered would really be of benefit to me and also I don't like the idea that down the line some bright spark would work out a way to hack into my car via this technology. There are already enough problems with keyless cars being stolen with remote relay technology, keep it simple Skoda!
