Monte Carlo 1.2 TSI 105 stutter at 2k revs when cold.

Featured Replies

Good morning

i don't come on here much. Testament to the car really which has been very reliable over 54k miles of ownership from new. I got her new and passed it to my wife A few years ago. In comparison to my previous greenline estate fabia they are night and day (that greenline really was rubbish).

the only mod i’ve done is a H&R RARB that was organised on briskoda.

it has a full Skoda service history.

anyway about a year ago a cold engine stutter manifested at 2k revs.

once the engine is warm it disappears.

happens when under load. On cold start it revs freely in neutral through that rev range.

it is possibly more noisy on startup.....the funny sounding valve (duck noise) is quite pronounced On initial start up but to be fair the engine has done 54k miles.

just wondering if there are any known faults/fixes for the stutter?. I don't want Skoda chasing it around to no avail with loads of parts and rising costs.

it drives nice once warm. I love the little TSI engine.

thanks

Fras

It's entirely possible that the ECT sensor has drifted out of spec. causing the problem, replacing it is cheap and easy to do.
