S3 8p brakes to 1.4 tsi

Featured Replies

Hi

I.have a 2014 a7  1.4 140hp model .

I found a used set front and back from audi s3 8p . 345 front and 310 back

Now I.have 288 front and i don't know back

Can i install them? Will I have any issues?

Do I need extra parts?

Also what is the minimum rim size I can use? 17 or 18?

17" Should clear the larger front calipers as I have 340 front and 310 rear ventilated discs as standard on my 2019 Superb.

Well..is it a straight swap?

Are they heavy brakes compared to.my stock 288mm ?

Will this change create problems?

Doesn't the Audi S3 use 5/100 BCD wheels?

Can't be, S3 is MQB, must be 1-on-1 with O3.

For 345mm front disc I don't think you can fit 17".

My humble opinion, you don't need this @haris. It will be unnecessary heavier, will affect unsprung weight, not sure how the brake pedal will feel, and the costs of wearable parts will be severe increased. Not likely you will ever be able to have it in proper working temperature to really find its purpose, like on the track days. Only positive what I see in this swap is improvement of the looks.

Hi, thanks for the answer.

Is there any other upgrade solution?

Maybe 312 or 330 .

From which cars/ models to check ebay?

I would prefer a non heavy solution of course to avoid problems

Octavia RS petrol is 340mm, diesel is 312mm.

Any upgrade will make your brakes heavier, you can't avoid this. Additionally, you will need bigger wheels, with more expensive tires.

The easiest and cheapest upgrade from 288 is to fit 312 discs, all you need is to change the carriers.

Will 312mm have a noticeable improvement?

Which other models have 312mm to check on ebay. ?

Karoq has 312mm on the front.

I'm thinking of replacing them with 345mm 4 pots

Maybe 330mm is the best solution.

Not 312 and not 345. The intermediate solution

And they fit to 17"

312 will work fine on your car. 312 were fitted to my mk2 VRS with 280 plus bhp and never failed to stop me.

To be honest, the rotational mass of the 8P brakes will probably take most of your 1.4's turning power just to get them going.

To be honest, the rotational mass of those brakes will probably take most of your 1.4's turning power just to get them going so won't take much to stop.

312 front / 272 rear will be all you need, anything more on the back and it will be tail wagging the dog with the rear suspension on the 1.4.

345 front DO fit under standard Skoda 17" wheels (e.g.Terons) with no issue.
