Getting auto headlights to turn on earlier

Featured Replies

Hi.

I want to try to code the headlights on my VRS to turn on a small bit earlier. I know there is an option to do this in the car settings which I have set to the earliest option but would like to get them to come on a bit earlier again. I find I have to turn them on myself manually  sometimes as I feel it's too dark to just have DRLs on.

This is the menu of OBD 11 which I think is where I can code the sensitivity of lights. Did a bit of Google translating but does anyone know which one I should lower the lumens in to make them turn on earlier?

Thanks.

The other option is to have the Scandanavian drl option enabled?

This gives you rear tail lights with your front drl on the auto setting. The only change when the auto headlights come on being the number plate lights turn on at the rear and the fact the headlights come on.

I find the earliest setting suits me. The times where I wish they would come on a bit earlier is usually during poor weather, therefore my lights are not for me to be able to see but for others to see me.

With the scandanavian drl activated this solves my problem - front and rear drl 24/7.

I think the above solution is best. Having the lights turn on any earlier (darker) is going to have them pinging on and off as you go under trees or pass high sided vehicles in their shadow.

Thanks for the suggestion but I have  coded Scandinavian DRLs already. While this turns on my rear lights, I still want my front headlights to turn on earlier to make me more visible from the front at dawn and dusk.

Rather than coding why dont you just turn them on manually.

I do but the point of auto headlights is that it does that itself so would be handy to have it coded.

Mmm, they’re just an assist feature. Not to replace all driver input. Apologies, not offering any info to your original question again.

is the option on the infotainment not doing it's job? I've the sensitivity on mine set to medium and I've never felt the need to manually intervene. I do feel sometimes on a slightly overcast late afternoon the lights can very occasionally come on a bit premature, but I feel the middle setting is the best all rounder.

I have mine to come on "late" in the settings and think they still come on too early!! Have always had the scandinavian drl's, could never see the point of just the fronts on.
