Fuel cap

Featured Replies

Recently purchased a 2013 MK3 Octavia elegance model 2.0 TDI. May seem a stupid question but do you have to turn the fuel cap a few times to close/open it or is it a slight turn and quite loose? Just needs a small turn on mine and I don't think it's right.

Just a small turn is needed.

Thank you. All other cars I have had needed a good few turns and clicked to stop tightening too much. Was concerned this wasn't right on the car but you've put my mind at ease. Cheers.

Mine sometimes goes around a bit before it engages and opens.

The one thing I've always wanted is a locking petrol cap for it, so even if some thieving scumbag prises open the filler flap to steal the fuel, they're going to find a locked cap there.😈

It only takes a very small rotation before mine clicks, agreed it's an odd mechanism.
