CANBUS Unit Upgrade

Featured Replies

So,
I'm about to embark on the great 'replace Columbus with Amundsen' journey that a few have successfully completed, and thought that whilst I was swapping and upgrading etc, then fitting a reversing camera would a nice little toy to have too.
I think that a later revision of the CANBUS module (BL or above?) would be needed, as mine's an 'AF'.. is that (other than a camera from a Octy 3 for instance, I'm fine with cutting the boot) all that's needed? Do newer gateways need to be coded via VCDS or do they just work?

Address 19: CAN Gateway (J533) Labels: 7N0-907-530-V2.clb
   Part No SW: 7N0 907 530 AF HW: 7N0 907 530 AF
   Component: J533 Gateway H52 1634
   Revision: H52 Serial number: 021212F2000370
   Coding: 359303
   Shop #: WSC 33361 790 00059
   VCID: 74E1AA8BD739FDBE8F5-8021

Thanks!

Do you want to replace Columbus (RNS510) with Amundsen MIB STD2 PQ unit? In such case there is no need to replace your gateway, everything should work, just to enter to 5F for coding you will have to select 5F manually in VCDS.

From O3 you can use only low camera - high cameras use different CAN than in S2. But in such case why not Chinese 90 mm trunk handle camera? They deliver a high quality picture.

Ah, excellent.. I thought I'd need to change the CAN in order to get the camera working in the MIB STD2 PQ.
If one of the cheap trunk mounted Aliexpress cameras work (parking lines etc) then that'll do me. :)

Yes, but parking lines are static.
