Update satnav

Featured Replies

The map in my car is nowhere near as up to date as on my last yeti update.

There is no map dedicated sd card that I can find and I can't seem to get the wan function to work properly with my phone.

Can I just download the updated map to any sd card and load it?

We went on a road yesterday missing in the karoq map and my daughters postcode does not exist even though they were on the Yeti map. Karoq map is 19/20 installed.

Is there a link to the site for latest map if doing it manually, and does it matter which sd card slot to use?

Thanks

Update maps available here, also video guide.

If it is Columbus unit you have any 32gb SD card will do, just download latest maps data and unzip to fat32 formatted card.

I use the direct online update option (Columbus)  - takes a few minutes, but OK

I have tried again. Wlan active, services activated etc. Update online command briefly flashes licence invalid and nothing happens. Yet I have the email from soda saying I have successfully activated service etc.

As I don't have a spare 32gb sd card at the moment I am stuck. Can I use a USB Drive instead

Finally managed to get it to do an online update linked to my phone, using link in satnav menu. Strangely my daughters street still doesn't exist although it was on the updated map I used last year for the yeti I had then. (I used a vw tiguan map to update it as the official skoda map was showing two speed limits at the time)

However the skoda services link in the menu which was confusing me doesn't work and won't update after showing a brief invalid licence notice? Does this not work in the uk?

I wouldn't lose any sleep fretting about updating the satnav in a Karoq. After mine was updated on Friday when the car went in for service, I tested it on Sunday with a trip between mid-Suffolk and Leics. The alterations to the A14 around Cambridge, which have been completed for about 6 months, were completely unknown to this latest update. The frustrated lady under the dash implored me to "please do a u-turn" while passing through what she thought was an open field. Useless, useless, useless - and it will be like this for another year until the next service and update.

I've bought the latest 6" Tomtom + a spare mount so it can easily be swapped between mine and my wife's cars. There's a new map every 3 months, and it updates via wireless. I mount it low on the car's windscreen so I can see it with a slight eye movement rather than a head movement to the Karoq's screen. I propose to get the Skoda map updated whenever it goes into the dealer, but it will only be used as a stand-by.

There has been other discussions re this.

My understanding is that updates are issued around Nov/Dec each year.

Any update done in September will be 9 months out of date, one reason I have my car's annual service done in January.

That's a fair point though, as the car was purchased at the end of September, the annual services occur in September. But, to be honest, I prefer to use the Tomtom.

In my Yeti I loaded the latest VW Tiguan update about 18 months ago and that had roads on still missing in latest skoda karoq map!

With new car it seems to be official Skoda map or nothing? Unless there is a workaround.

  • 1 month later...

I find it better just to use google maps or waze. Both right up to date and much better than any standalone satnav.

Latest update on VW site published last week has maps from - March!!! And Skoda updates come in June each year are the same as these VWs from December which are March maps in fact.... So Skoda updated maps are in fact from March last year, thus 1 year and 3 months old.

So no surprise lot of thing are missing or inaccurate.

True misery 🤣

I used this link and successfully updated my Columbus online - for instance includes the latest A14 changes.

In my Yeti I was uploading compatible VW maps as the Skoda ones didn't work properly at the time.

My yeti had the recent new street where my daughter now lives on the VW map, but new 20 reg Karoq with latest available maps does not!!

You would think the VW/Audi/Skoda group would at least use the same map updates and be all up to date!
