Advice on buying secondhand 2015 octavia

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I am looking to buy my first car and was interested in the Skoda Octavia Ambition and found a few used models on my local carsales. I was wondering if the issues with the DSG would cause me grief for a 2015 octavia ambition plus 103TSI auto thats done about 110,000km (70,000miles). Any other advice or recommendations would be awesome.

Thanks

I think the DSG needs servicing every 40,000 miles so I'd look for that in its history. That's all I know sorry.

@Marcushope2  Welcome.

What engine is that, is it a 1.4TSI 140 ps ?

The DSG would be a DQ200 which does not have any Service Guidelines / Interval / Schedule for oil changes but might well be one currently part of a 'Recall' / Service Campaign in Australia, so best check on that.

This is since the World Wide Recall in 2012 and Recall in Australia and this started late 2019.

I’m in the same boat as you. Here’s what I’ve learnt so far.

the 184 ps diesel engine could have an issue where it can take up to 8 seconds to start from cold - this is a software update to fix at the main dealer and not a problem

DSG box must have been looked after with service every 40k. If that can’t be proved, walk away

DSG switch can fail, again a cheap fix.

that’s pretty much it 😊

@Doombrain

That is pretty much a Diesel car with a different kind of DSG you are posting about.

Thankyou all for this advice. I have decided on a 2013 Octavia RS that suits my needs and is a bit cheaper
