Very quiet. Maybe the sidegrip is not so great as the Contis have due to harder compound, but really silent ones. Running second set of Scorpion Verdes already.

anyone know if PS 4 are run-flat ? to my limited knowledge, run-flats are louder. true or not ?

Run-flats are generally noisier but it's the less-compliant ride that can be a problem, because the sidewalls are stiffer (which can also transmit more road noise to the interior).

And it's really important to note that the tyre's official noise rating is for 'drive-by' noise and this does not necessarily correlate with cabin noise. As an example, on my previous car (Golf Estate) I swapped the Michelin Primacy tyres for Michelin Cross-Climate all-season. Tyres had exactly the same official noise rating but the CCs gave a significantly lower cabin noise level, as well as a more compliant ride.

The Ps4s on the Golf were quieter than the Contis were. I think its tread pattern as PS4 steered firmer but had  a more compliant ride.

I doubt PS4s are run flat as tyres are made specifically for that.
The Pirellis on the VRS are fairly quiet but SUVs seem better than cars anyway, you can't hear the motor most of the time or notice road noise so it is a quiet car regardless.

Maybe go try a demo VRS with Pirellis on it may be your best bet if not sure.

Oh but no....he had a bad experience with some previous Pirellis that are from a different product line so he could never have a Pirelli branded tyre.

$2000 PS4 or $1500 Scorpion Verde ?

PS4 but since you’re too cheap go with Pirelli

have settled on PS 4 SUV. anyone know if they have sufficient sidewall overhang or inbuilt rim protectors, to prevent kerbing ?

If you mean these Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV 235/45 R20 100V XL as listed on mytyres

https://www.mytyres.co.uk/cgi-bin/rshop.pl?dsco=110&cart_id=URYngaAYIJcMAp55.110.181736414&sowigan=So&Breite=235&Quer=45&Felge=20&kategorie=6&Ang_pro_Seite=20&sort_by=brand&rsmFahrzeugart=ALL&Label=C-A-72-2&details=Ordern&typ=R-392671

then no, they don't have rim protection. If you are mounting them to 8J rims then the tyre sidewalls won't bulge out. They will be very prone to kerbing damage. These tyres are also listed on autodoc, and again they are listed as not having rim protection built into the sidewalls of the tyres.

https://www.autodoc.co.uk/tyres/michelin-3528709600965-960096

However, these 19" Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV 235/50 R19 99V do have rim protection

https://www.mytyres.co.uk/cgi-bin/rshop.pl?dsco=110&cart_id=URYngaAYIJcMAp55.110.181736414&sowigan=So&Breite=235&Quer=50&Felge=19&kategorie=6&ranzahl=4&Ang_pro_Seite=50&weiter=50&sort_by=brand&rsmFahrzeugart=ALL&Label=E-A-70-2&details=Ordern&typ=R-392653

and here they are listed on autodoc, again shown with rim protection

https://www.autodoc.co.uk/tyres/michelin-3528706381225-638122

Skoda use 1" narrower 7J rims for the 19" tyres so you get the benefit of not just rim protection moulded into the tyre's sidewalls, but the tyre's sidewalls will bulge out from the relatively narrow rims. Plus the 19" size appears to be much cheaper than the 20" size.

Here's a link to some standard alloy rims for the Skoda Kodiaq which show rim diameters, rim widths, and offsets

https://www.skoda-parts.com/catalog/kodiaq/spare-parts/accessories/wheels-steel-aluminium/aluminium-wheel-578.html?strana=1&sort=&listtype=&query=

If you think that 20" wheels will somehow turn the Kodiaq into a sport car, think again. The car's high centre of gravity doesn't do its handling any favours as seen in this youtube video...

Tyre width was the limiting factor there. The standard Kodiaq did better, the extra weight of the RS seems to overload the base 235 width tyres. After driving a standard RS now that I have my one with Ignites (8.5J + 255 width tyres) it feels much stable going hard in corners.

Conti’s are a good compromise between grip and comfort but they wear out quicker than other brands. Our current cars have Pirelli and Hankook tyres. Both seem to have a good comfortable ride but not the ultimate in cornering grip, but there lasting well.

Yes agree, but the DCC in Sport makes a surprising amount of difference in how it controls the weight shift when changing from side to side. Not enough to fudge the moose test but enough to have a decent stab at corners and make the 20 inch tyres steer fairly directly, especially with some power on. You have to be going reasonably silly speeds at a corner to get understeer.

with hindsight, i should've swapped the Extremes for Vegas. amazing that Skoda give Vegas as standard on a $60k car, for which Audi charge $3k in a $120k car (RS Q3)

On the 8Jx20 rims, it might be woth going up from 235/45R20 to 245/45R20 to get a bit more rim protection. Many car manufacturers fit 245/45 tyres to 8J rims, so it's a normal fitment for that width rim. 7.5J is officially the narrowest rim you can fit 245/45 tyres to, so 8J isn't on the limit for that tyre size.

Vredestein Quatrac Pro 245/45R20 103V XL (with rim protection)

https://www.camskill.co.uk/m148b0s8066p193663/Vredestein_Tyres_All_Season_SUV_4x4_Vredestein_Quatrac_Pro_-_245_45_R20_103V_XL_TL_Fuel_Eff_%3A_C_Wet_Grip%3A_B_NoiseClass%3A_2_Noise%3A_72dB

72dB is a bit noisy, but then that is what you often get with such wide tyres.

a feckin Kamiq Monte Carlo gets Vega wheels as standard, but you'd have to give Audi $3000 to get a lookalike on a $120k RS Q3
