MP3's

Featured Replies

Where did you get this item from? Sounds like just what i'm after. Does it allow a normal jack plug from a mp3 player to be fitted?

Thanks.

I got mine Here. The kit works perfect for the stream version 1 but for the stream version 2 (like i have) you need to modify the connector with some connector parts from Skoda (about another £10). The seller is looking into offering both versions in future.

Soundlinks and connects2 offer something similar.

Here are the old and new type adapters from Connects 2

grahics display of parking sensors distance

gala automatic volume control according to speed of car

radio station/track no. etc displayed on maxidot computer (if fitted)

steering wheel controls (if fitted)

volume automatically lowers when you go into reverse

handsfree phone connection displays 'phone' on maxidot when call received and allows call volume adjustment via head unit and steering wheel controls

changes to climate control system settings repeated on radio display

thats about it i think

We've got an Audience + Maxidot, but I can't find any way of showing radio station and track in the Maxidot display. What's the trick?

hold down the up or down button on the right hand stalk until the menu comes up on the screen. Then use the down button to scroll to 'audio'. Press the button below the stalk to select it.

If 'audio' isn't available in the menu then the connector on the radio is probably not pushed in properly (it happens) or there's something more serious wrong. In either case a trip to the dealers will sort it.

So does the auto changer not play mp3's?

The boot mounted 6 disc changer you get with the stream doesnt play mp3's although there are a couple of reports that the odd one does.

JohnnyC, Was it easy enough getting to the back of your head unit? and how to tell difference between early and late Stream? My car Is '54. (Dec 2004)

There are guides on here including my own if you get to the stage the you need to remove the head unit.

The new stream has a little musical note symbol on the audio settings button and in the menu you can adjust bass, mid and treble as opposed to the old stream which has just bass and treble adjustments.

Thanks' date=' Johnnyc - followed your instructions and it works - [b']BUT[/b] - I was expecting Audio to appear in the usual sequence you get when you use the rocker switch - MPG, elapsed time, average speed etc. Instead, you have to go through a series of options which - for safety reasons - I would much rather not when driving. I don't suppose there's a way of reprogramming the computer to add audio to the usual options....?

Does anybody know if the MP3/ipod socket that is to be available from week 22 will also be available as a retro-fit upgrade to the Stream head unit? I have just bought a new L&K which has everything I want except an ipod socket!

You don't ask much do you? No way of reprogramming it i'm afraid.

So when is week 22 - given the Octavia is looking a possibility for my next car, I'd hate to order it a little too early :)

Anyone know what kind of socket there will be in the Jumbo box?

The Austrian Skoda site mentions a 3.5mm jack, which wouldn't be very useful if I understand correctly what they mean.

It can be used for an Ipod i think ?

Contacted the Skoda dealer today and they told me that to have the mp3/ipod socket fitted in the jumbo box would cost

£150 for a 3.5mm socket? Wow :o Cheaper to get the ipod adaptor and fit it yourself (denison icelink) surely? Or is that what we're talking about...

I think he has quoted you for the dealer fit Ipod (only) interface which goes in the glove box and enables the head unit to control the ipod but does render the 6cd changer redundant.

The factory fit 'jack plug' will be in the jumbo box and will accept any mp3 player as an auxiliary, and keep the cd changer, however, you will not be able to control your mp3 player through the head unit.

Thats the theory anyway. Visteon who manufacture the Stream head unit have to provide Skoda with the firmware update and hardware required to take advantage of the aux input function. When I talked to the MD of Visteon he said Skoda had not approached then about taking advantage of this feature. That was a couple of months back.

WRC_Ant where are you getting the information about the mp3 jack in the jumbo box from week 22?

I asked Skoda UK Customer Services and they say they have no plans to include an mp3 jack input in the jumbo box. The only solution they recommended was the iPod connector.

In Austria it's only in the RS that has already fitted a Jumbobox.....

The Audience CD upgrade is being stopped and Skoda is making the Stream able to play MP3. You will also be given the option of having a MP3 jack socket in the bottom of the jumbo box, the little socket will only be available on Elegance and L+K.

just ordered an elegance 2.0tdi estate with the stream due to arrive aug, does this meant it should have the mp3 compatability and aux plug in the jumbo box, dealer didnt know if it played mp3.
