can anyone recommend a good alloy wheel cleaner please?

i have a set of 18'' graphite alloy wheels on my superb i was told that they where bought from skoda as an up grade and where bought as they are and haven't been refurbed so was thinking of puting an old set of steel octavia wheels that i have in the shed, i know they wont look pretty but it will keep my alloys in good nick not having them on the car for the winter.

so i was thinking of taking them off giving them a good clean and put them away for the winter.

i have used wonder wheels before, i was hopping someone could recommend a good product  that i can clean the brake dust and crud of the wheels with and put them away for a phew months?

preferably something i can spay on clean with cloth or brush then rinse off?

the reason for asking is there are that many different products on offer i wouldn't know where to start lol    

 

I’m using glimmermann wheel cleaner at the minute. Most of the better names will also be non acidic. Spray it on, leave for a minute or two and agitate with a wheel brush or wash mitt and rinse. 
 

so is it a none acidic type of wheel cleaner i need?

i thought they where all acidic type to get the brake dust and crud off i just thought there where different strengths ?

Go to EZ care care. They have some great products and are all reasonable priced with sales on all the time

Stick up a pic of your wheel. Non acidic cleaner is a weekly wheel cleaner to clean properly but also not harsh enough to damage the finish on the wheel. 
If it’s a wheel that’s not looked after and has built up brake dust that’s eaten into the top coat, you’ll need a concrete acid to remove it safely without marking the finish, but it’s spray on agitate within seconds and immediately spray off really well type substance. 
In that instance I use Purge. Smaller area at a time and a detail brush, then rinse. Keeping applying and agitating and rinse quickly as many times as required. Best done with the wheel off the car to be sure you don’t miss any acid when rinsing. 

what I use on my wheels 

Bilt hamber  Auto Wheels - everyday wheel cleaner non acidic works really well  generally no agitation is needed 

 

if doing a proper deep clean 

Bilt Hamber corrosol - this is an iron fallout, use about once every 3 or 6 months 

Small amount of light cutting clay inside and out (take the wheel off) 

auto wheels with agitation 

seal with poor boys wheel sealant 

 

Another vote here for Bilt Hamber Auto Wheel.

Used it for years and always does a fab job.

Get it and you won't be disappointed.

thanks lads i will put a pic up of the wheels tomorrow when light 

apart from some brake dust and the inner wheel being a bit grubby  they are in parity good condition with little to no kurbing so considering how long they have been on the car they ant bad!

i just wont to give them a good clean before putting them away for a phew months
