1.2TSI stop start not working properly

Featured Replies

Recently bought a Rapid 1.2TSI, got a few small minor problems I've noticed... one of which is the stop start not working.

Basically once car is warm etc, if I stop at some lights it turns car off but then doesn't restart the car afterwards.

Already in a habit of switching it straight off after starting car, just wondering what the problem is... if anyone knows??

Assuming your car uses the same principles as my Superb, operating the clutch to put into gear should re-start the engine.

May be your clutch switch is faulty.

Can you start the car without depressing the clutch?

No, won't start without putting clutch down... so guess that's working as normal.

That's how it's supposed to work, stopped it cuts the engine, to restart press clutch down to engage gear.

That's not what I was responding to. He asked if I need to put the clutch down to start the car to begin with. i.e when first getting in the car.

When already driving car, stop at lights etc the stop start will turn car off but not restart when clutch etc is re-engaged... that is the problem.

Do you have any message come up on the MFD when it won't start?

Thanks, AG Falco

Did you ever get this sorted out, I think that there are more than a simple single clutch pedal switch, maybe even 3 which need to be read in the correct order by the controller, I'd think starting manually only requires you to have the clutch pedal fully depressed, the auto restarting should I think be initiated before the clutch pedal reaches that point.
