Skoda Fabia 1.0 Se TSI petrol - should we buy ?

Featured Replies

Hi all!! Used to a VW Passat 1.9 diesel but been eyeing up Skodas for  while :) have the opportunity to buy the above car but a bit worried about the 1.0 power ?

it will be for family of four, about town, mainly with occasional longer trips out

we are go family camping  so will be loaded up occasionally!!

what’s your opinion ? Particularly on whether it’s pokey enough and noise inside the car ?

  Thanks all x

Sorry !! That should be BANNING diesels 😬

Would you be going for the 95 or 110 bhp? I would imagine that the latter would have plenty of power.

My wife has the 60bhp Mpi Fabia and that is underpowered for what you are looking for.

My octavia will be going back next month at the end of it's contract, so we will hope to change my wife's Fabia as soon as the pcp plan allows, as we are going to just have one car.

I’ve driven the 115bhp 1.0 litre Fabia Estate and was really surprised at the poke it had and also fairly quiet. Make sure you get the 115bhp version though as the 90bhp 1.0 litre would be under powered for your needs.

The choice is 60, 75, (TDI ) 90-95 or 110 ps  TSI's in Mk3 Fabias, there is no 115ps. Not in hatch or estate.

You get 1.0tsi 115ps Scala, Kamiq, Karoq, Octavia.

The 95 ps Fabia is certainly not under powered for UK roads with 4 adults and luggage in the boot if that is what it might have to carry.

Can't comment on the 1.0 TSI but I have a 2017 1.2tsi Fabia estate (90HP) and missus has a MK2 1.2 TSI estate (86 HP). They're both 4 cyl

Neither feel underpowered, in my opinion, even when loaded up and the roof box is on. They certainly feel sprightly compared to my old 1.6 Focus and are a lot better on MPG.

They've all got pretty good torque so they're easy to get along with and you don't really have to rev beyond 3000 RPM.

I did test drive a non turbo mk3 (either 60 or 70bhp?) and that was pretty flat but ok, I reckon, for doddering about without having to worry about a turbo etc.

If you like tear-arseing around, you might have a problem but for general driving and motorway use, they're perfectly usable.
