Virtual Cockpit Install?

Featured Replies

Hi

Can't seem to find an install guide to do this anywhere. Does anybody have a link to an instruction guide or youtube vid?

Also i hear this requires ODIS Work by a Skoda dealer. Is that correct?

Any help is appreciated

The physical replacement of the cluster is pretty simple. If you want the map display and radio logos etc, you'll need a MIB2.5 headunit and to add a fibre optic cable. Not sure if the Superb needs a different trim panel, the Octavia does.

The immobiliser/key pairing and component protection need Odis to sort out. This can either be done at a dealer/garage with the right software/hardware or remotely if you have a suitable laptop and VAS5054a.

The odometer can only be set on new clusters (under 100km?) so new clusters are preferred. Some services can add milage by stimulating a car at a certain speed but none can remove milage yet.

Ideally you should also replace the MFSW buttons for a set with the view button too 👍

As it was mentioned physical instalation quite easy need just remove decorative paneles (using special adaptors or just use any plastic card, I used second option for my own car) then you will found 2 screws so remove them, then  pull your dashboard. on the back side need to open quadlock, video below not for superb but concept the same. If you need maps on VC need to run opticalfiber from your mib (if you have Conton need aditional cable to split the signal). I did all this operation by myself. But coding and removing CP was done remotly. Keep in mind you also need to change trim panel below of dashboard it has the same number as your current one but need to ask for FL model. And you need VAS5054 to remove CP or need to go to OD or someone who already has it.

Thanks Roman

I have an OBDEleven so was going i could do the coding by myself if anybody had the codes. A Eurotune company here in Australia wants $1500 to install my unit (not including cost of unit) which i think is high

Thanks for the help so far guys

$1500 is madness!

I'd suggest getting a decent VAS5054a and using a remote coding service to do the immobiliser, component protection and key matching. I'd guess it'll be around a tenth of that price and probably take 20-30 minutes. I used these guys for my VChttps://www.instagram.com/vagretrofit/?hl=en

At the point, you should be able to use OBDeleven to check/tweak the instrument cluster coding (if their labels are any good). Finally, you'll need to tweak the 5F coding. It'll depend if you fitted a MOST cable and which headunit you have to how much coding is needed.

So, if you really want to do it, try to find AID on aliexpress, it will cost +-700$, buy VAS5054 cost 70-80$, optical fiber +-10$, trim panel +-10. And find some one who can do CP remotly from some east european countries like russian\poland, i believe price for coding and cp will be +-100$. WOW price for AID even less https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000247523402.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.68e676f36butjB&algo_pvid=38a3cdb0-9e13-4dcd-bd65-81b6fa87278a&algo_expid=38a3cdb0-9e13-4dcd-bd65-81b6fa87278a-19&btsid=2100bddf16080073212396363e3151&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_,searchweb201603_, So i think you can even try to check with seller how much cost removing CP.

Is there no way of getting map display on vc if you have MIB2? That would mean another 1.5k in parts alone?

Pretty sure that's correct. It might just be a lack of VC settings but I think it's map display too, @pab567 can correct me if I'm mistaken.

Some MIB2 units can be reworked into MIB2.5 units but that's definitely a question for pab... May not work out that cheap given shipping/taxes both ways from Australia...

Columbus MIB2 does NOT support VC :( so either you have to switch to Columbus MIB2.5 and 9.2" screen 5E0919606 or switch to Amundsen MY18 (5Q0035874C / 5Q0035864C) as it supports VC and then you can remaing with current screen.

Hello colleagues, recently I changed my bolero system for an amundsen (5Q0035864C) and I am very happy, but now I want to change the analog board for the VC, I have found a scrap one with reference: 565 920 790 c. the seller tells me that it is valid for my skoda karoq MY18, could you confirm if it is correct please?

You need to be careful with second hand instrument clusters. Im not saying this one is but many are stolen.

When you come to fitting it in the car and carrying out component protection FAZIT may deny the unlock of component protection if the display or vehicle has been stolen or even sometimes written off.

Personally I would be looking at a brand new one from Aliexpress for around £550 - No worries then and the mileage is 0 so when coded can be set to current mileage, wont have to pay an additional cost to have the mileage rolled forward.

Thanks for your recommendation friend, the VC comes from car scrapping I guess it will give me a guarantee, if they give me a guarantee and for the price (€200) it is worth it.

@willyfog I agree, if you have proof of purchase and some guarantee then you are on the safe side.

The right VC for your car is 565 920 790. This one  will probably work as well. I wrote "probably" as at some point in time immobilizer has been changed - but I really don't remember when exactly it was. If it supports new immo then it will NOT work in your car.

It's possible to increase the mileage on used VC - so if you buy it then first th emileage must be adjusted to match yours and then replaced. It will require ODIS online procedure with Components Protection removal and all keys matching.

Thank you @pab567 for your answer, I am aware of the issue of Coding and uploading the mileage, you say that it is probably worth it if it is not compatible with new immo, forgive my ignorance but... what is new immo?  how can i find out?  And in any case, what would be your recommendation?

You will have either 5A or 5C immobiliser protocols. Personally I don’t think it’s the right one and believe the A that should be at the end of the cluster part number dictates the newer immobiliser used from 2019ish onwards
