crossovers

Featured Replies

in my vRS as with all the others, they have tweeters and normal speakers.

does that mean they already have crossovers to split the sound? as im buying new speakers that come with crossovers, do i still need to use them or does the car already have them?

Genrally the crossovers found in standard systems suck bigtime.. usually just a resistor (or something) across the back of the tweeter to block low frequencies so, yes.. use the new crossovers :)

Like Colin said, they have resistors on the back of them...a passive crossover, it just prevents certain frequencies playing through the cone. An active crossover will be better...

when i took my car in to have a speaker replaced they reconnected all the bloody tweeters!

Now there's service for you! :D

Put some tape over the connectors, slows 'em down... ;)

Isnt it a capacitor not a resistor?

Jono

A cap will impede low frequencies, an inductor will impede high frequencies. A resistor should impede all frequencies equally (well, unless it's a wire-wound resistor which may have an inductive component. So let's assume a perfect resistor.:))
