Skoda Octavia 66 Plate: Rear washer not working

Featured Replies

Took my car in for a MOT and service this week. I asked them to look at the rear washer which hadn’t been working for a while. They said..

No sign of a leak. technician has checked and motor is working but new wiper motor is required.

Not sure what this means- which motor works and which is broken? The rear wiper is working and the front washers are fine. They’ve quoted me a price of £277 parts and labour which sounds like a lot of money for something I hardly ever use. Is this something I can do myself- they were quoting around £130 for the new motor.

Quite often it can be just the nozzle which is blocked.

cheers for the response. He told me he’d checked that and though it was full of gunk it wasn’t stopping water getting through

I had exactly the same for my 17 plate at it's MOT a few weeks ago.  It turned out to be gunk clogging the motor/pump which feeds the rear washer.  I was quoted about £65 for labour to clean it out compared with £130 without labour for a replacement pump.
