The phantom fuse.

Thanks for replies on this. I'm getting an intermittent failure on the nearside DRL with all other lights OK. Just wondered if it was on a separate circuit with it's own fuse. Looks as if its the DRL unit itself so I've ordered up a replacement of Ebay. Skoda OEM about £85 but aftermarket same unit for BMWs  for £30 so not a bank breaker.

Sounds more like a bad joint.

Exactly what I am dreading. If it's inside the light unit it's going to be fun. That's why I was looking for any other contact points in the feed.

The "bulb" is an LED embedded in it's own circuitry and cooling system attached to the outside of the headlight unit. The wiring could be problematic as there is barely enough to attach the LED unless you have the fingers of a five year old. Hmmm ! Where's the nearest five year old.

You have highlighted one of the problems here: you haven't mentioned the age of your car, so you are getting advice for both type of DRLs.

I can tell what year of car/cars you drive Graham without your posting.

I have however got a proper circuit diagram now, and no, no dedicated  fuse. As Bexhillian remarked, the DRLs can be deactivated using the MFD though. The how and why escape me but I can live with that.
