Rear coil spring (1 blue 1 yellow) part number needed to replace on a 1Z5 2010 Mk2 Octavia Vrs Estate

Featured Replies

Hi everyone and happy new year.

I bought 2xkyb rear coil springs to replace mine but they are not correct giving a massive wheel arch ride height .

Going around in circles on the net so thought I’d ask you all with the knowledge

btw it’s a 2.0 Tfsi Petrol if that helps

Thanks

Sorry Carlson ,just seen the bottom of your message

the kyb rear coil spring parts I had delivered and have fitted just one of so far are :-

RH7021

confusing as that’s where I was lead via previous  part number catalogue but they are huge in ride height

KYB RH7021 are supposed to match 1K0511115BT which are very similar to 1K511115BR.

Your coloured dots shows that you have 1K511115BR but some online catalogues suggest 1K511115BS or 1K511115BT.

Can you measure the KYB RH7021 that you haven't fitted to see if it is even close to the specification that these OEM numbers should have? Sometimes sellers put the wrong spring in the box, so maybe that is the case and it's not actually 1K0511115BT.

1K0511115BS and 1K0511115BT rear springs should be similar to these specifications.

Length 330mm

Thickness 11.75mm

Diameter 112mm

Weight 1.85kg

KYB RH7021 is sold to replace OEM number 1K0511115BT.

However, In the KYB range I would have chosen KYB RA7102 because it is sold to replace OEM numbers 1K0511115BR and 1K0511115BS.

There seems to be a problem though, because you should notice very little difference between these OEM part numbers.

Right.Old spring(blue/yellow) is 32.5ishcm

new kyb 7021 is 33.3ishcm

Only reason I bought new rear springs was mechanic fitted new Bilstein B4’s front struts and a white line rear arb for me,since then the front passenger side is higher...

so I bought new rear springs and Bilstein B4’s rear shocks of which I have fitted one of each on the rear drivers side today and it looks ridiculous

measured the springs this morning before fitting and didn’t think there was much in it...

really appreciate your help here sir

In the past hour I’ve been looking at KYB 7201 as you have just suggested, looking up the specs etc there is nothing in it unless its the diameter of the actual spring ??

other option was Bilstein b3 coil springs or Kilen but I was sure I got the right parts in the 1st place and don’t fancy forking out another £85 ish either

Kyb 7201i meant

Sachs claim 326mm for their 1K0511115BR replacement, so your old spring measurement of approximately 325mm is near enough spot on.

New KYB RH7021 at 333mm is only 3mm more than Spidan/Suplex give for their 1K0511115BS and 1K0511115BT replacement, so again almost spot on.

It doesn't look like the new springs are the problem, if the KYB that you have fitted is the same as the one you have measured.

I think you mean KYB RA7102 which is sold to replace OEM numbers 1K0511115BR and 1K0511115BS.

The problem won't be the diameter of the spring.

That.Is great news.I think I may have to go back to the drawing board and strip out/start again and fit both tomorrow

on hindsight I should take a proper gander at the mechanics front strut fitting and high passenger side......

as my rear original rear springs look fine-

just thought to rule it out and I was fitting new rear shocks myself anyway

really appreciate all of your help tonight

a happy new year to you

Just measured ride height all around

( I’ve a new baby so have to do car stuff when I choose to ignore the wife)

mid wheel cap to too middle of wheel arch ...

Front passenger side new b4 strut over 40cm,

front drivers side new b4 strut about 40cm

rear passenger side with old spring and shock still fitted- about 40cm

Rear passenger side new kyb spring and new b4 shock almost 43cm!

The whole car looks like a 4x4 !!

something is very wrong ....

Fit the other rear side, take it out for a short drive, and measure again!

Ok sir I will deffo do that- I can stop looking at bloody springs thanks to you!

  • Author

Tho I understand it should be a stock ride height of 370mm front and 365mm ish back so it has a lot  to drop to do for a vrs estate mk2 from my 400mm + ......

Thanks again Carlston.

So I have taken your advice and went ahead and fitted the other new rear kyb 7021 coil spring (although the originals looked fine) when fitting the new rear Bilstein B4’s.

The car now sits very solidly and the ride height has evened out.Still a little high but not Tractor high!

I have taken the car for a 50 mile mostly motorway drive today. It feels planted, no squeaks or groans at all.

I have read it good to leave new suspension to settle for approx 300 miles/1 week until getting it 4 wheel aligned so looking forward to that with the Whiteline rear Arb also fitted and car is remapped to a modest 220 bhp.

Many many Thanks for your knowledge and replies to me and I wish all on here a Happy New Year.

Apart from just getting a 4 wheel alignment and STILL sitting high after myself fitting the new rear Kyb springs and Bilstein B3 shocks.

The front passenger spring is 3 pink and 1 red dot and front drivers side is 3 red dots.

I cannot find the correct part numbers/ dot colours in catalogues/eBay etc needed to finally sit my mk2 facelift 2.0 tfsi estate the way it is supposed to.

In the Skoda online parts catalogue, I can't see any front springs with either 3 pink dots and 1 red dot, or 3 red dots.

Are these two front springs what was on the car when you bought it? eg. they're not KYB springs.

Do you mean Bilstein B3 or Bilstein B4 shocks? I didn't think Bilstein did B3 shocks only B3 springs.

1K0411105DB front coil spring Is for an automatic estate as heavier front end

1K0411105DA is for a manual estate

As I say I’ve just found your info but I am baffled as of the correct dot colours on there and what I actually need ......

Also 1K0411105DA is saying incorrect/won’t fit my vrs estate

Very weird indeed

Bloody gutted the new mechanic I paid £365 for labour only to fit my new front Bilstein B3 struts and top mount/bearing kit plus Whiteline Rarb didn’t point this out, before I myself fitted the rear B3’s and new springs then a 4 wheel alignment and it STILL looking like a tractor!!

Just hoping this helps some other folk in the future
