Octavia mk3 FL headlight moisture

Featured Replies

Hello,

This is my first topic on briskoda, and unfortunately it is about an issue I am having with my headlights.

I own Skoda Octavia mk3 facelift with led headlights. I have noticed, when I wash my car I get a little bit of moisture in both headlights butnig goes away after driving it 10 to 15 min. Last week that got worse in my left headlight as I can see the water drops that wont go away inany case. It is winter now and it has been raining couple of days. Also my car is in garage a lot of time where there is no water that can evaporate.

I have opened the warranty ticket and I am waiting for response from my dealer, that documented everything and sent that to skoda officials. Dealer told me that everything is ok and that there is no physical damage.

I am wondering if this falls under warranty as mine is to October 2022, and what if they say that this does not fall under warranty?

Did anyone had similar case?

Thanks

There will be a  statement similar to this in your owners manual.

The problem seems to be that LED lamps do not generate the same amount of heat that halogen or Xenon lamps produced that helped drive out the moisture inside the lamp unit.

Those water drops are there for like 10 days. There is no way I can remove them. I drove the car for 3 hours and they are still there. Also corner light in my left headlight, does not work properly because of this condensation.

Does the user manual explain how to get rid of those water drops?

Its all normal. My Scout does that. Best take the car for a long fast run and utilise the headlights as much as possible.

Does moisture in your headlights goes away after what you have mentioned as solution?

Generally, it improves.....never 100% goes away.  My MK2 had the same issues with condensation.  I didn't worry too much.

Just to inform you guys that I got response from dealer. This falls under warranty(waiting replacement), as it does not go away after their procedure and there are water drops that can not be removed with led headlight heat after some time. Also if it get worse it can endanger your night drive.

Thanks guys for your responses also :)
