Check Left and Right reversing lights

Featured Replies

Hello!
Just bought a Superb last days, with the Check Left and Right reversing lights message on dash. Ex owner mentioned that the error might be from the LED lights he fited in, but today I have fitted normal bulbs, errors gone, but when put into Reverse the errors came back on. After this I have plugged in and got the error code:

01519 - Right Reverse lights, short circuit to positive or open circuit, Permanent

01518 - Left Reverse lights, short circuit to positive or open circuit, Permanent.

i have to mention that the Reverse lights are fully working, but I want to get rid of the message in the dash.

The car is a Superb, 2.0 tdi 170 hp, 59 plate.
Did anyone had this problem?

Thanks

I post a message because I'm curisous sorry I didn't have answers.

I tried also to fit LED Bulds (with canbus resistances) but I still had the default on the dash so I removed them waiting to find a solution.

If the BCM supported LED's (should on a 2014) you can code the BCM with VCP or ODIS-e to remove the bulb out warning (not VCDS!).

As for the OP, if the problem is still happening with halogen reverse lights, I'd disconnect the battery for 5 minutes and reconnect to see if a reset helps. If not, there could be a wiring issue or someone may have previously messed with the coding/lighting config. Hard to say for certain I'm afraid. Maybe check for load resistors?

I will try to fit halogen bulbs again, and deisconnect the battery. If not I will remove boot trims in order to look for the broken wires, which I think this may be the fault, as Delphi diagnose shows it as a permanent fault. Whee should I find the load resistors? Thanks a lot langers2k

That all depends what the previous owner did!

Normally, they'd be somewhere near the bulb, hopefully stuck to metal body work. I'd hope they were pretty obvious if fitted :/

Mine is from 12/24/2013 I supposed it's support the LED because I have OEM LED rear tail light. Do you have the process to do it via ODIS or VCP ?

Rough guide for using VCP + VAGHelper can be found here: https://www.drive2.com/l/568355153657203363/

Make sure you keep a copy of the dump somewhere safe!

When you load the dump in VAGHelper, you'll need to select the two reverse light channels and untick both cold and warm diagnostics :)

Do you know if the Odis cable (version 6154) works with VPC ? Or do I need to buy a VCP cable also ?

A VAS6154 is not compatible with VCP. VCP requires it's own specific hardware :)

It's should be possible if your VAS6154 works with ODIS engineering (not service). This should give an idea of what's involved: https://www.drive2.ru/l/466803709959995485/ Obviously you would need to read the correct bytes for the reversing lamps (see VAGHelper) rather than the front/rear fogs.

All I would say is be super careful, it's easy to kill a BCM if you mess this up or your ODIS/VAS interface are buggy. Continue at your own risk...
